A visit to the Aland Maritime Museum is exciting for children and adults alike. The exhibitions are filled with dramatic stories and fantastic objects, such a genuine 18th century pirate’s flag. There are also lots of interactivities, such as a climbing mast, a bridge simulator and a karaoke.

Seadog, landlubber or in between - Aland Maritime Museum has something for everybody.

This is an excellent museum for young and old alike, go back in time to the era of the huge windjammers!

This is something where adults can go in depth, as well as the young can play around, climb, test, touch and build. Works very well for the whole family. Very interactive... read more

This is something where adults can go in depth, as well as the young can play around, climb, test, touch and build. Works very well for the whole family. Very interactive oriented, especially for the young. One of the few real authentic pirate flags of the world!

Aland's Maritime Museum is really well done. The exhibits are well set out and backed up by a wealth of information that brings them to life, such as stories about the lives of individual sailors and crews of the ships. Given Aland's historical connections to the sea, the museum also provides an insight into an important part of the islands'... More

The museum itself, with the Museumship Pommern, definitely are a place to visit, evenduring a short stay in Mariehamn. Both at the same price, and you can use the ticket on separate days. The items in the museum are organized very well, displaying in many ways the life on a sailship (mainly). And there you can even see how the... More

I found this recently renovated museum to be very interesting. It's a comprehensive study in various means of museum communication, too -- you'll find everything from interactive displays, pictures, ship models, artefacts and reconstructed interiors here, as well as several really nicely done dioramas (never underestimate the power of the diorama!). There are several opportunities for hands-on experiences, too; cables... More

Great museum, with lots of exhibits that provide you with information about how life at sea used to be for the inhabitants of Aland. Had to stop and take pictures of nearly everything. I would recommend it to everyone, especially to those who have an interest in the subject. Includes models and paraphernalia recovered from actual ships or lighthouses in... More

Good museum for both maritime lovers and as family outing. Especially Pommern ship which is attached to the museum was fun for the children. We had only 2 hours which was too little time.

This museum is not to be missed, along with its tall ship alongside it offers a rich glance into the days of sail, and you get to see one of the very few original pirate flags still in existence.Highly recommended

An excellent museum, lots of interactive hands-on experiences and singular exhibits. Well organised, with the Pommern now part of the museum. I've been to a lot of maritime museums, and this is surely one of the best. Interesting material, will lit and illustrated. Knowledgable staff. And in incredible library with every seafaring book I have ever heard of; I could... More

The museum is only a few years old and the displays are all very well done. Loads of model ships with interactive parts here and there. There are several replicas of parts of ships so you can see how seafarers lived and worked. They have a 'tresure hunt' for the kids that takes you through the museum and encurrage the... More
