Nice little local museum. Full of bits and pieces and interesting stories. The information about the pardoned soldier is particularly moving.

Very nice staff, helpful and knowledgeable. Cheap at 3dollars entry. A bit chaotic and dated. Interesting but due to lack of visual structure it is hard to see forest for the trees

This is a hidden gem as it tells the history of the area through a maritime perspective. Shipping played a major part in the development of this part of NZ and Bluff had/has a central roll. To read the stories of the early indigenous people...More

Really enjoyed the exhibits. From the full size oyster boat in the yard to the old steam engine in the building that runs after a fashion to illustrate the steam drive concept. Lots of other exhibits.

Cheap admission to view a very varied collection. While not interested in boats at all, I found the social history and details of the whalers, sealers and mutton birders very interesting. Very noisy children shortened our stay but I am sure you could easily spend...More

Yes, an interesting side attraction if you're in Bluff but otherwise just another one of those maritime museums full of ships parts, photos and details of local wrecks. Recommended as there is little else to do in Bluff.
