Maybe we were lucky going off season and on a Monday with many places closed but we enjoyed sitting here near to the lovely church watching the world go by.

We visited this small but pretty square during our trip to this town & the nearby villages/towns of Archez & Salares. High up in the mountains, not too far from Nerja its definitely worth the drive. Less busy than Frigiliana, less picture-postcard but still charming....More

The Plaza Almijara is situated in the middle of the town square of Competa and is the place where the locals sit and chew the cud. The tourists sit and sample the local cuisine. Good wines and a litro of Sangria! Or just enjoy a...More

Came for just 4 day break. Travelled around the area. Beautiful. The scenery is stunning. Well worth hiring a car. The town has so much character.

We love this town it's an original Andalusian Spanish town with this lovely square small but nice enough to get enough restaurants and shops around it with lovely views from certain parts .

The Plaza Almijara is the main Plaza in Competa. We visited on the day of an annual wine festival and the town was buzzing. Competa is a beautiful Spanish hillside town and makes a great day out.

This is a place to avoid, in genera, as it was once upon a time a very nice traditional Spanish plaza in a very lovely Moorish white village in mountains above Torre del Mar.

Wonderful focal point of Competa. Many villages lack a central point. Competa has this in abundance with this fabulous square. Splendid restaurants serving good food and magnificent church the crowning glory. One of the best places to watch the world go by.

I´ve in or very near Competa for 10 years. To begin with, Competa was (and to some extent remains) a Fascist village. The Plaza Almijara was changed from a square named for Franco ONLY after pressured by a Socialist government. The plaza is riddled with...More

Not at all. It's around 5 mins. There are 2 routes. If you take the right hand fork as you walk towards the Plaza you will not have to descend and then climb again. Sorry for the long delay in responding. Been busy!
