Loved the very short trip from Castlebay to castle. Loved the little courtyard-very compact. Lucky that when we were there large sailing ship was leaving bay to allow ferry into port. At the little visitor's room, lady was very knowledgeable about castle's history and was eager to share her knowledge with us. Doesn't take long to go round but still... More

Well worth visiting. It is an interesting castle. You get to the castle on a small ferry - the journey takes only about 5 minutes - probably less. It is in a beautiful spot in the bay and there are lovely views from the top.

I was £5.50 for the ferry boat trip and entrance to the castle. When you get to castle you pay the £5.50 then if you want any information on the castle you fork out more for the guide book because ther is no info boards of any kind around which is first for me and maybe explains the cheep price... There is not much to this place but in time when they complete the restoration it will be special. So support the people that work here and visit this unique little gem.

Small castle but if you like historic buildings, it is well worth a visit. A little boat picks you up and you will need to allow about 45 minutes to appreciate the castle. There is a small shop and very knowledgeable staff.

The castle looks really small so we weren't sure there would be much to see. We waited for the boat which goes across every half hour. It was early and we were the only ones on the boat so had the place to ourselves. During the short boat trip we were fascinated to hear the two boatmen talking to each... More
