The museum is certainly worth a visit, mysterious hype notwithstanding as gives you access to some stunning views from the walls and tower. But the story of Father Berenger Saunieter, his unexplainable wealth and possible links to a DaVinci code type conspiracy add some spice to what could be a very standard museum experience. The adjoining church is small but... More

It worth visiting this museum to gain an understanding of the possibilities of what history could have been around the Templars and Mary Magdalene.

Calm and relaxing atmosphere, a real mystery in history. Lots of information and good explanations. Views were stunning, on a hot day it's hard to absorb all the information.

Well presented museum explaining the history and life of Sauniere. Lovely gardens but quite a few steps. On a very hot day it was too warm to stand and read all the information given in multiple languages. Neat little shop with lots of books at the end though. Reasonably priced.

Diane & I visited while in the area in July - fortunately it wasn't too busy, I'd imagine the steep, single track village access road is a nightmare in August! The museum itself is extensive and well laid out with multi-language descriptions of the exhibits, a real bonus for us schoolboy French linguists!

This museum, giving some idea how live was in that days (for the somewhat richer people) certainly keeps alive the mystery of father Sauniere, it's worth a visit

The museum includes most of Sauniere' s domain (the villa Bethany, of which you only see 3 rooms unfortunately, the Magdala tower, the gardens, the beautiful walkway etc) and costs 5Euro per adult. The church itself is free entry. Unfortunately, although there is some English translation, each full panel of text in French only has a few lines translation into... More

Rennes le château is synonymous with the Abbé Sauniere mystery otherwise there's not much else in this village. But for those who have read about it the visit of the museum was very interesting as I was finally in the actual place I'd read so much about. If you are with small children there are the gardens to run about... More

The Museum is OK as long as you speak French. If you happen to know the history of Rennes-le-Chateau it all makes a lot more sense.

This is a great site, interesting & varied. The museum is fascinating giving meat to the bones of this famous mystery site.
