Get away from the main island of Malta in search of sea and sunshine on this tour from Bugibba. Visit the Crystal Lagoon (if traveling in June-October), followed by the Blue Lagoon on Comino for swimming and snorkeling. From here, continue to Gozo Island, where you have the choice of enjoying free time at your leisure or taking a tour of the island's historic sites before cruising back to Bugibba via the Santa Maria pirate caves.

This is a nice gate, but certainly not the most impressive one. Worth a quick stop. You can climb to the top.

We were lucky to get a guided tour of the gate which is the highest point on the Cottonera Lines. The Guide was very informative about the history and current aspirations for the Gate. The venue is not generally open so you need to contact WirtArtna direct for details of availability.

We have often seen this magnificent Baroque gate on the horizon, not knowing what it was, but only recently took the trouble to visit it and it is well worth it. It was actually built in the late 1600's. On a sunny day, the views of Valletta and the Grand Harbour are fantastic. The height advantage helps to bring history, the Cotonera Lines, the Military Hospital to life.
