Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The rising waters on the two adjacent soda lakes on their own have made them less appealing for your average foreign tourist. But this has also wrecked the infrastructure at both. The remaining shoreline hotels are limping along at best, but kudos to thoae trying to persist. The monster flamingo flocks have all but disappeared. The geysers are now under water, at least the previously spectacular ones are. For such a long drive, I believe that there is better value for a 1 to 2 week trip to take in other centres and to confine oneself to Lakes Nakuru and Naivasha further south, much closer to the other tourist hot-spots. One exception - bird watchers may wish to make the trip for the dryland specialities, although fish eagles can be easily seen further south. Next time I would move west rather than notrth for the 3 days liberated by missing these two lakes.

Well worth taking a boat ride here. Plenty of crocodliles, hippos and birds to see. Best early in the morning or late in the day as it very warm on the water. Make sure you negotiate strongly with regards to the price. Some operators will charge you 5 times the normal rate if they think they can get away with it.

The lake is not too impressive, apart from being reasonably large. We stayed in Soi Safari Lodge simply because it's cheaper then Bogoria Spa and Lodge and only a 45 minute drive. Place is reasonably clean, friendly staff, cold beer and reasonable food (no menu).

Saw two crocs and two hippo's, and of course the two resident ostriches.

Lake Baringo is a bird watchers paradise. I stayed there for 2 nights last year as part of a photographic safari and it was spectacular. There were also a few Hippos and Crocs but it's the shear number of birds and species that is the greatest attraction.
There are plenty of locals that can take you around the lake in their boats for bird watching or photography.
There are no 5 star resorts here but there is a number of suitable accommodation places in typical Kenyan style

A very beautiful lake with plenty of animals (crocodilez, lizards, eagles, ostrich and etc), with a good hotel beside the lake with very good accomodation and excellent staff and very good food.

After the boat transfer from the mainland to Samatian Island we arrived at an area amazing world of pure nature.
The simple but very comfortable lodge has various Bungalows, all with great views over the lake. A team of very friendly and competent people assisting the guests with everything needed. The whole lodge is running on self contained base. You bring your own food and drinks and the experianced staff assist you with cooking and serving the food.

With an area of 170 square kilometers, Lake Baringo is located in the north of the Equator, surrounded by mountains and includes several islands, one of which has a population of 600 inhabitants. Its banks are sometimes steep and sometimes gentle slopes along which homes and hotels have been swallowed up by rising water levels due to floods in recent years.
We were accommodated at Tumbili Cliff Lodge with a view of the lake and the islands but well protected from flooding since it is on a cliff.
On board canoes early in the morning and late in the afternoon you can encounter hippos, crocodiles but above all many colorful birds, weavers, rollers, kingfishers, Egyptian geese, ibises, herons but also fishing eagles in action.
