Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went on a morning jeep safari in this national park, arranged by our hotel.
We saw so many elephants! including a couple of cute one month old babies. Many different animals in here - we saw jackals, bison, lizards and a lot of different birds. Great morning out, would recommend.

The first time we've visited a National Park, and were lucky to see quite a lot of elephants. It's a shame that some people don't respect the rules, and give food to the monkeys though ...
We also saw jackals, peacocks, crocodiles and several species of wild birds.
Overall a good few hours spent. Obviously it's pretty touristy though.

It is nice safari by jeep cars (accommodate up to seven persons I think) going through the park to watch birds and animals. The most common and interesting animals are elephants, buffaloes, many peacocks, and heard that Leopards are also existing, and other animals. Unfortunately, the rainy weather leads to experience failure, and all vehicles are equipped with rollable tents to protect from rains. The most interesting there is watching many elephants closely.

This is more a trip in a national park with wild animals than it is a safari.

We saw elephants very close. Furthermore we saw buffalos, monkeys, eagles and a lot of other birds. There are also a lot of crocodiles but they did not feel for showing of when we were visiting.

Our local guide said that the park also had a leopard but we did not see this either.

The ride is very bumpy.

Such a sad and disappointing experience! I would recommend everyone who has at least a small heart for animals to avoid a safari in Udawalawa National Park! It is so sad to see how the animals get scared by the masses of jeeps surrounding them! Sometimes there are almost 10 jeeps scaring one elephant or even a baby elephant with trying to get as close as possible and loud motors! In my opinion the drivers don't care at all about the animals and for sure the organisations, the whole park and also the government don't care about the protection and the wellbeing of the animals! The organisations don't want to fill up the cars, so they can earn more money - most of the jeeps are driving with 2-3, sometimes even one person!! It would be so easy to reduce the jeeps down to 40-50%, but they don't - the animals and their protection don't seem to value more than some rupies!! On some roads there are hundreds and thousands of meters broken steel wires and huge steel springs laying on the ground and when they are in the way of the jeeps they just throw them in the bush! We demanded to take them with us and bring them out of the park and the drivers were just laughing at us and didn't care at all.
I didn't believe that it would be that bad but it really is and it made me so sad to be a part of this madness.. it is a shame.

Whilst the park was overcrowded with tourists in jeeps, it didnt seem to disturb the animals and within minutes of entering the park we saw several elephants, harpi eagles and more!
