I love Scotney, it's such a pretty place. Especially area by the lake and old castle. Not many flowers out yet but there will be more. Nice countryside walk if you are up for it... read more

I love Scotney, it's such a pretty place. Especially area by the lake and old castle. Not many flowers out yet but there will be more. Nice countryside walk if you are up for it. Also a house to visit with a real mix of furniture etc

Lovely grounds in May the rhododendrons will be amazing, there is a house to visit which has quite a lot of rooms to view very informative, the gardens are beautiful although very steep in some parts, the castle is being renovated at the movement only over certain days depending on the weather, worth going to see it is stunning surrounded... The standard of National Trust Volunteers with an excellent knowledge of the house on the hill, medieval castle in the valley and the history of the owners made our visit come to life. The volunteer gardeners are creating a beautiful tranquil garden and lake/moat to sit or walk round and you could picnic in the grounds as long as you... More

I loved this place! Upon arrival we all got a bit confused as we hadn't done our research and thought it looked more like a house than a castle. As we wondering around the house, a volunteer pointed out the view of the castle! The house is lovely and very interesting. It has a resident cat and the children's trail... More

Lovely tranquil place to spend a few hours, either picnicking and admiring the views or taking a nice walk.

On the day of our visit the weather was awful but we still made the effort to visit all areas. The staff are very helpful, enthusiastic and so knowledgeable about the castle, I really felt as though they wanted to be there. I would definitely return when next in the area and I would welcome this place for anyone to... More

Have been many times before, but arrived just as a guided tour was to start. Lovely lady, Pat Chapman, took us through the gardens. Lots of interesting things which I did not know, told well, including seeing a dinosaur footprint!!!

Visited Scotney house and castle on an overcast day but despite the weather had a wonderful day. The house itself feels as if the owners had just gone out for the day and left it. It is a little shabby but full of history of the house parties, well known residence who lived in the apartments ( including Maggie Thatcher)... More

I visited here with my young daughter in her baby carrier. The paths are well maintained which make exploring easy but several areas were closed due to seasonal updates which limited our explorations. The house has obviously been well looked after and the castle had some interesting snippets but would benefit from more staging in order to fully appreciate it.... More

We have visited Scotney Castle twice in the last month. The house can be visited on a timed ticket from the reception area. It's worth a look and quite interesting. Even my young child enjoyed a look, the staff provide you with a paper guide they have one for children and one adults. You can then make your way down... More
