We visited Kylemore Abbey on a day trip from Galway. We drove in through Clifden on the way in, and returned to Galway through the Twelve Pins mountains. Both drives offered stunning--and very different--views, and I would definitely suggest driving in and out in a loop. Because we were coming from Galway, the Abbey was rather out of our way,... Absolutely loved this place. We were lucky it was such a nice sunny day, but it wasnt very warm, just a fine spring day. We arrived and the entry fee was not expensive. There were lovely walks or if not interested there was the option of a short bus ride. Fab gardens and the a visit to the the Abbey... More

We visited this as part of our day trip to Connemara. The grounds, the castle, the cathedral and pathways are outstanding. It did not disappoint. We took a bit too much time eating lunch so we did not get to see the gardens before the tour left again. Do not make that same mistake because we were told the gardens... More

We were limited in time. We opted to visit the Victorian Walled Garden. And availed of the electric scooter. Great this facility was there. But at 10 euro for an hour, I thought that price was a bit steep. The garden was delightful. Beautiful. Very informative boards. Very well maintained. Café was excellent. Some suggestions: I could see no signs... More

The story behind this Abby is so sad, and so beautiful. The grounds make for a lovely walk and the history of the Abby and the rooms to see are a great glimpse back in time. If you're near Galway, go.

With the abbey itself and its history and the walled gardens and the woods surrounding it with its hidden church, there is something to interest everyone. there is also a coffee shop and souvenir shop so there is a place to rest after (or instead of) all that walking

My mom and I went later in the day so we didn't get to spend as much time in the gardens as we would've liked but it was still worth going to. The Abbey sits on the other end of the lake from the parking lot and it is a stunning first view. The abbey used to be an all... More

This place is arguably super - gorgeous location and lots to keep you occupied for a good few hours ! BUT...the cafe remains utterly chaotic between the hours of 12pm and 2.30pm. You literally fight to get your place in the ( inevitably long ) queue - signposting needs to be much better as does clarity around the rules of... More

Spectacular! As the Muckrose House, one not to be missed. The trio there if you go by the Atlantic Way and then follow the road through the Inagh Valley is the way to go because of the views. When you arrive at the Abbey you will see it mirrored in the lake just in front of it. It used to... More
