Just another church for the viewing

Came by here to check it out to burn some free time. Nice place and a good place for walking. Would visit again if I had to.

We traveled to the church to visit the crypt where Maria Goretti is laid to rest. At such a young age, she had such a huge, loving and forgiving heart. The gentleman in the bookshop shared a lot of information about Marietta and her family and for that we are grateful. The room set off from the crypt has an... More

The young couple Federica and Andrea that were kind enough to take two strangers to their hotel when there were no taxis in town, tour the American Cemetery and Anzio and finally have dinner with us that night on their day off are getting married here next September 1st.

A very inspirational and holy place of pilgrimage!! A very nice half day trip from Rome where you can also see the Med and eat along the water.

Very pretty church but the story of the Saint is so beautiful..It is explained why she became a Saint and shows her family.. There is a souvenir shop to purchase mementos.

The sanctuary is a tomb, a memorial to the short life of a 12-year-old girl, Maria Goretti, killed in 1902 after fighting off her potential rapist. Declared a saint in 1950, she is one of the youngest saints ever canonized. The story of this virgin saint (recounted in several Italian films) is a popular one in Italy. The Sanctuary contains... Nettuno is in general not interesting, this church is no exception. I've seen 50 better churches in Italy and at least 1000 in my life more beautiful than this one. Dull.

The church is a lovely, peaceful spot. Exhibits on St. Maria Goretti are really interesting and very well maintained. The nuns in the museum/gift shop are very kind and helpful.
