What a revelation! We were advised quite by accident to see this wonderful mill and surrounding village. The mill has been lovingly and carefully restored to a multi-purpose venue, with something for everyone. Thanks to a visionary owner, who must have lavished millions on this...More

Walking through this grand edifice to capitalism one can just imagine the throng of workers leaving on the factory hooter, just like Lowry's painting. It is very atmospheric. It houses an exhibition of Hockney and a cafe.

As a local and now visitor to the area I have always loved Salts Mill. Easily accessible to drive to or on public transport. The book shop and home wear have always kept me here for hours. The selection is incredible, aspirational but something to...More

Salts mill has been tastefully turned into a modern vibrant art gallery and boutique shopping experience. David Hockney art lovers will spend hours here (like I did). The cafes serve great food and the third floor has a good exhibition about the mill and history...More

The Salts Mill is stunning! David Hockney hanging everywhere and books and fun trinkets for sale on each floor. Loved our visit here, great to do when raining as you’ll spend a good hour or two walking around. Lifts inside for those who don’t like...More

We visited to see the Hockney works and were amazed by the sheer number of them. But that was just the start. In that gallery there are so many art books and artists materials. Upstairs the book and poster shop is a wonderful cornucopia of...More

Went to visit the mill on a very wet day. Lovely old building, plenty of places to eat and drink. Good display area for David Hockney's paintings with plenty of places to sit and look at the pictures. The books and antiques were great to...More

Not a huge lot to see. We did the entire building and the surrounding area in probably less than two hours, taking our time. Then we moved on to the BBC Museum which is not far away. We were staying in a Hotel in the centre... More
