Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Honest review here… Don’t waste your time or money. We read the reviews and thought this would be a nice side trip from Medellin…NO. We hired a driver and took the long 2 hour drive. Our driver was excellent and We’ve used him before so he gave us the history of the city. We walked across the famous bridge Puente de Occidente which was built in the 19th century by the same person who built the Brooklyn Bridge. That was nice, and the town was Ok. Had lunch and that was just OK. Then there was the 2 hour drive back to Medellin.
Cost… $180 for the driver, $100 lunch for 5 including the driver. 6 hours of wasted vacation time. Stay in Medellin, much more to do and see and if you feel you’ve seen it all, just go back to your favorite place or…Take the money, fly to NY and walk the Brooklyn Bridge… better photo ops and better food

Town with beautiful colonial architecture, well preserved by its inhabitants. It is considered National Heritage of Colombia.
I recommend visiting the central square and its surroundings. The people are very friendly and hospitable. Very good views, good gastronomy typical of the region.
Be prepared for very hot weather. Bring fresh clothing, a hat and sunscreen.

Overall, I was kind of disappointed by Santa Fe as a whole. Really not much to do here. You can easily see everything in an afternoon. We did enjoy just staying around the pool and chill with some drinks. There are plenty of places to eat in the evening and watch people.

Most travelers do not understand how huge the size of Colombia is. From Medellín to Santa Fe de Antioquia is about 90 minutes on a good day. Sadly, the construction of the new autopsista (freeway) means that there are lots of one-lane, traffic-control areas and lots of huge construction trucks along the route. We encountered 30 minute plus delays coming and going.
I highly recommend starting much earlier in the day. Once there, park a few blocks away in the private parking lots if you're in a private car. Lots of little places to explore in the town square starting with the Basilica and then the other churches all a minutes apart.
If you speak and read Spanish, the attractions will be more interesting. Plenty of OK restaurants and places to get coffee and ice cream. It is always warm here - dress accordingly.
Enjoy your visit.

If you have time for a day's travel from Medellin, this one is well worth a visit and night's stay. Quite the adventurous drive on an undivided highway with plenty of campions chugging up the mountains at 10 mph. Breathtaking views on the way.
The core of this old city can be described as "fading glory" bit gives one an appreciation for how life would've been very full a hundred years ago.

We expected a lot more from this small town. It has nice architecture and churches. However, they need to capitalize on the city's imp to the region. It is important to invest on infrastructure to attract tourist investment. For example. we strolled through the main streets and could not find a nice place with ac to escape the terrible heat. They don't even have a nice local craft shop.

About a 1.5 hr or so drive from Medellin, this quaint little old town has a very unique character and feel to it.
There are many things to see like a farmers markets of sorts across a Church which by itself is a sight to see. The vendors sell all kinds of local fruits/veggies and other appetizing stuff alongwith some souvenir items. There are cobblestone streets with money exchange centers, ATM's, restaurants, shops etc.
Overall a very different sight and worth a visit if you have a day to spare. If you enjoy the old world charm then its a must see place. Some pictures are attached to my review here to give a feel for what the place is like!

I liked this old colonial style town, it was like traveling back time when I strolled along the rocky street, which reminded my time in Antigua in Guatemala, and Trinidad in Cuba.

Santa Fe de Antioquia is a lovely, although somewhat sleepy colonial city. The cathedral and the Iglesia de Santa Bárbara are worth seeing, as is the Museum of Religious Art next to it. Also don't miss the Puente de Occidente--a suspension bridge across the Cauca River from the late 19th century with scenic views. It is an easy mototaxi ride from the center (the driver will wait). The colonial core is not large, so it is easy to see the town in a day. The city sits in the Cauca Valley at a low altitude, so the climate is tropical--much warmer and muggier than Medellín. It is an easy day trip from Medellín you can do on your own--no need to pay $175 to a tour operator. Go to the Terminal Norte (connects with the Estación Caribe metro station), and you will find a number of bus lines offering service to Santa Fe.

Santa Fe is pretty, like everyone said, but I'm here for an overnight and have already exhausted the sights in one afternoon. I would make it a day trip from Medellin unless you want to sit by the hotel pool, which is what I did.
