it's really beautiful. It's very difficult to explain because you need to see and fell, I am sure I will have this images and moments in my memories forever, like you can close your eyes and remember and immediately you will forgot all your problems and make you stable again works like a re-energizing place.

You don't know you are there until you brave in through the dunes to find the most exquisite clear rain water ponds to swim and relax. An amazing gift from nature in its pure form.

Me and my boyfriend absolutely loved visiting this place. We chose to take a boat from Barreirinhas to Atins and camped in Atins and took a VERRRY long walk to the lagoons. I only wish that we had a drone with us so we could capture its full beauty. It was amazing to walk around here and get lost all... More

Incredible scenery of lagoons in the middle of the desert. You can walk around, swim, relax. Even getting there is quite exciting (or scary - depends on standards) - oldschool ferry + huge, modified pickups with crazy drivers. When you cross the last sand barrier, there are kilometers of desert with small lakes in front of you. It's also worth... More

yes...this place is amazing. I was here in the off season so many of the lagoons were dried, but we still managed to find someone that stay full of water year round. The one we trekked to from Atims was called Lagoa Capivara. It was about a 3 hour walk done by our guide at the hostel Tia Reta. You... More

Amazing place! Dunes with lagoons! The Lencois Maranhenses is a rare sight. Unique, actually, if lagoons are with water. Only here that view can be seen during or immediately after the rainy season. The rest of the year it is also stunning but only white sand dunes. The water lagoons make it unique. I learned about this place in August... More

I had been dreaming of going to Lencois for many years and finally went for my 40th birthday. It was absolutely incredible to be walking on the dunes. I wish I had gone a month or two earlier when the pools of water hadn't already dried up. We did get to swim in one pool, but for the most part... More

Magnificent, but I guess it would have been better if we went earlier in the year. We went in September which should still be in season but due to a very hot period, lots of places were alrwsdy dried out. Our guide said that nowadays ine shoukd go best in June/July.
