Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One hour or so drive from Calabar-bad road mostly. Mild hike with a few difficult spots (about 234 steps to get down). The caretaker son is a top notch guide. He can also take amazing pictures of you.

Kwa falls is beautiful! 234 steps later, we were at the body of water. It is quite refreshing to take a dip after the long walk. The sight is peaceful with lush greenery.
However, the government seems to have neglected the area. The steps need a bit of work and the area made more attractive for visitors. You could go there to have picnic with your friends.
There is an entrance fee of not more than 500 Naira. You could also support the local art musuem on the site.

This waterfall is located just inside Cross River National Park, about 25 kilometers north of Calabar on the Ikot Offiong - Ekang road, and is located in a lush, green gorge of the Kwa river. When you arrive at the site you can already see a part of the waterfall plunging into the gorge. For the best views you'll have to go down into the gorge. A steep stairway leads you down to the river bedding, after which you turn right and climb over rocks towards a view on the beautiful waterfall. Judging from the shape of the river bedding this might prove to be difficult in the heart of the rainy season, as the river will probably fill up the gorge from side to side. Outside this period, you'll get to a nice spot to enjoy the views, perhaps a little picknick (bring your rubbish back with you!), and even a swim is a possibility. The way back up is steep over about 240 stairs, and the climb over the rocks might not be for everyone. Bear that in mind before you descend. Expats might want to inquire about the security situation on the road before heading there.
