There were few people when we queued for the cable car at the first station, the foot of the mountain, which, according to our tour guide, is at an altitude of 3,300m. At the second station, at an altitude of 3,746m, you have to change...More
This mountain is located only 7 kilometers outside of Shangri-la and is easily accessible by car or scooter. It is a bit strange that this mountain is not marketed more as an activity or attraction in Shangri-la. While it isn’t really a snow mountain (it...More
We travelled here expecting at least to be able to walk a section, but we were told that all the hiking trails were closed for 'development'. We observed the trails from the cable car and they looked perfectly passable. They basically force you to take...More

At altitude of 3000m when we reached Shangri-la city, we started to feel it is hard to breathe. Like I shared, we bought 2 canisters of oxygen each, one for the night to replenish oxygen before sleeping (else you will keep waking up due to lack of oxygen) and one for the next day while going up and down the Shika Mountain. We left the place for Lijiang after visiting the mountain.
