Not a safe path. V high ladder to climb back. Would be easy to slip and hurt yourself. Do not do it in wet weather. Lovely views. Took 2.5 hours. There are horses near the top who will carry you the last bit. However, by...More

The trek is absolutely fantastic! The landscape of the area is amazing and it's one of the highlights China has to offer. Besides, the trek is not so hard and everyone can do it in 2 or 3 days. Even one if you are fast....More

This was a 2 hour drive from Lijiang, but well worth it. The Yangtze River runs through a narrow gorge between 2 mountains creating a tremendous set of rapids. Descending the steps to the Yangtze River offers many excellent stops for photos. Close to the...More

Beautiful scenery walking down to the river. Lots of stairs, so not recommended to visit in the rain. Nice pictures opportunity

Wonderful example of nature at work, the water was low when I visited however the power and majesty of the river is still very obvious. Long climb down steps (and back up) but well worth the experience. Take your time and take in the surrounding...More

One of the deepest gorges in the world with spectacular scenery all around. The steps down to the bottom to view the gorge is a challenge but there are men who offers rides in wooden seat rack for RMB100 both ways and cost RMB200 one...More

Yes, this is not as spectacular as other powerful river, yes, it is not something unique. However, it is a scenic canyon on the Jinsha River, a primary tributary of the upper Yangtze River and right beside one of the oldest part of the "Tea...More

There is a long walk down with many stairs to see the gorge and of course walk back up. The gorge is okay and it takes at least 1 and half hour return trip. If time is tight, I would not recommend going here.

The blurb at the Information Centre makes an extraordinary claim - that this place ranks with the Grand Canyon. Er, sorry, NO!!!! Despite having our expectations dashed, we still enjoyed it for what it was - lots of steps down to the water, and good...More

Lynne, if all you have is 6Hrs including the journey there and back, you are not able to make it. If you have to wait for the tourist buses and schedules, it depends on that day itself unless you hire a tour guide with... More

Hi, I and my partner will be arriving in Lijiang late on a Tuesday night and staying in a hostel (we haven't decided which yet). We have limited time as we are moving on to Dali, so we were wondering if it would be possible to start hiking early, spend the night somewhere, and get back to Lijiang by the late afternoon on that Thursday. There seems to be so many options on hiking TLG, is there a worthwhile hike that fits that time frame? Thanks!

No problem. One day up, one day down. The bus to Lijiang leaves around 15.30 from Tina's. Check my review.
