Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lake Nordenskjold is a lake located in Torres del Paine National Park that was named named after the Swede Otto Nordenskiöld who discovered it in the beginning of the 20th century. At the western edge of Nordenskjold lake, we found Salto Grande waterfall, one of the largest in the Park. It was also easy for us to find an abundance of wildlife around the lake, including guanacos, upland geese and a few flamingos.
We had several options when visiting Nordenskjold Lake. All around the Park you have several overlooks that offer incredible sights of this massive electric blue lake, but you may also trek around it. The Famous W trek around Torres del Paine National Park has a stretch between the French Valley and the Base of the Towers where one walks right along the edge of Nordenskjold Lake. Hosteria Las Torres also offers a horseback riding outing along this same trail.
Finally, those who want to see Lake Nordenskjold from up close can also do a light trek to Mirador Cuernos (Horns Overlook) that takes you from Salto Grande waterfall to an impressive overlook right underneath the famous Paine Horns, with only Nordensjold Lake separating you and the massive granite giants. A sight you don't want to miss!

Hiked to this beautiful lake in Torres Del Paine National Park in Chile via the trail that goes by the Salte Grande Waterfall. Beautiful hike that ends in an elevated view of the lake and Cuernos peaks rising behind the lake. Great picture spot!

Easy hike, nice views around, nothing sensational, views of the far surrounding mountains, and reflections in the lake

you get a southern view of the face of Torres del Paine from this area. The water is a spectacular color of blue. Worth a stop on your trip through the area.

This lake is very beautifull, we did a walk along this lake for about 7 hours. It is breathtaking. We left very early and came across a puma in the distance. Very very lucky to see the puma.

A great way to see the Lake is to ride from Las Torres Hotel on one of their many horses with a skilled Chilean huaso - highly recommended!

Beautiful views of the lake as you trek from Paine Grande to Domo Frances. The winds were so strong at times you can see its effects on the water surface, creating miniature semi-tornadoes.

The view from the Nordenskjold lookout is --like so many things in the Park--outstanding.. Given the beauty of every vista, we would recommend stopping at every viewpoint if only for a few minutes.

It's a good thing it's the digital age. Every few steps I had to take what I was sure would be the most beautiful shot ever of Torres del Paine. Even with the guide saying "It gets better". And he was right. This is what I went to Patagonia for - the raw beauty, the majestic mountains, the tranquil scenery. Viewing the mountains across the Lake is perfect.

Worth visiting the views take your breath away and it more than rewards the effort to get there. Great place to contemplate the world and let your troubles fade away.

Planning on visiting Torres Del Paine this December. Wanted to know if there is any parking area that can be used and then a short walk to the view?. I am trying to understand all the places within Torres Del Paine where free or paid parking is available so i can play my drive inside the park properly. Appreciate your response.

I don't want to see the milodron cave. Is there a tour company that will take me to Lago Nordenskjold and Salto Grande that you recommend?
Thank you

Highly recommend renting a car. It's less expensive than a tour company and gives you infinitely more freedom and flexibility to explore this amazing part of the world on your own schedule. The park is so incredibly beautiful that photo stops every few minutes are practically unavoidable, and having a rental car will allow you to take full advantage. We had a good experience renting with EMSA, which is affiliated with Avis and has offices in Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas. And there are so few roads that it's actually quite difficult to get lost or make a wrong turn.
