Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You must go up there to watch sunrise. We started from central camp around 3.40am with headlamps and reached around 7am. It was freezing cold. The place is magical as the color of the rock turns to yellow and red.

Really enjoyable day. Took 8 hours which is fairly quick. Need to be reasonable fit and used to trekking although some people on the hike clearly were not.
It’s a there and back trek and none of it is flat apart from the first and last 2km. Then it’s climb to windy pass , lose height to Chilean camping then off climbing again with more up and down before the steep climb to the lake. Absolutely stunning scenery. Went with guides from Rio Serrano hotel who were awesome.

Base de las Torres in Chilean Patagonia was amazing! We took a 10-hour hike in this 18-km. trail (as opposed to a suggested 8 hours but actually I would say the trail starts from the public car park in front of Hotel Las Torres and we had to add in a few more kilometers to that figure). The views along the way are great and very enjoyable. The difficulty is spread throughout the hike as we gradually gained elevation. Unfortunately, we arrived later than expected and were not permitted to walk up to the Base (it was closed at 15.45 and we arrived at 16.30). There is an option to ride a horse, which will cover almost half the trek in the beginning, saving you energy for an expense.

P.S. As you probably know, Patagonian weather regularly switches so bring layers and water-resistant/proof clothes.

This hike is absolutely stunning. We were lucky with sunny weather but the winds topped out at 80 + kph so essentially 50 mph. Tip: Bring goggles or some other fully protected eyewear my Maui Jim glasses didn't cut it. The wind was blowing so hard on the windy pass that little shards of rocks got into my eyes even though the sun glasses.

This hike is very well maintained and you can easily hike it in one day in & out. Bring lunch, snacks and water. You can drink the glacier water. If you are from the PNW I would say this hike isn't more challenging than Granite Mountain. It's a little harder than Mt. Si.

Just make sure to bring a camera! It's amazing!!!

We visited in March 2024: autumn is a great time for a visit as the intense Patagonian winds are gone and the climate is cooler. Long hike, ascending most of the time, but nothing technically challenging or too steep, and no exposure (I'm petrified of heights and had zero fears on this hike). Really easy to do yourself. Pack light, but with enough water (at least 2L per person), because its a long journey and the descent back can feel endless at times. When you reach the base of the towers, wait around for the sun to appear if its shrouded in clouds. 1-2 mins makes all the difference up in the mountains: the sun comes out of nowhere and you'll be rewarded with the picture perfect view!

This is not a hike for children, which we saw on the trail (miserable kids and miserable parents). First of all it's long and arduous, with steep grades. Second, the weather is very variable and we had relentless rain (soaked from head to toes) and cold at the top, with no views of the towers because of the fog and clouds.

Long day of hiking. Looking at 8 hours. It is not crazy difficult, but not easy. Amazing place to take pictures and have lunch. We, with the luck of the Gods and planetary alignment (sarcasm), were the only ones to be found anywhere near there for an hour. Trail can get crowded, very quickly, so best to go earlier before the day-trippers show up around 9-11 am. We left at 7-730, which was perfectly timed.

We didn't do W, our goal just Mirador del Torres, so stayed in Chileno refuge and started from there on early morning. That helped a lot, since our legs already so tired on the last several hiking days. It took us 3 and half hours to reach the Mirador Las torres, and 4 hours go down to parking lot.
Compared to Fitz Roy, this hike is easier, a healthy person can complete 8 hours from parking lot.

Trail with medium to high difficulty, depending on your physical preparation it may be more difficult. It starts at the welcome center near the Las Torres hotel. It's 22km round trip, we did it in a net time of 8h. Allow 10 hours, counting the stops and the time you will spend up there. The beginning is a constant climb and then a descent to the Chilean Refuge. From there, woods with a slight climb and a final stretch with a steep climb between rocks. In this part we saw falling snow (February/2024). Arriving at the top, the weather is closed. You have to wait, the weather changes every minute. And that happened, clouds opened and the towers appeared. Incredible scenery. Mandatory trail.

The view is fantastic and worth all the effort. The last hour is very tough and you should think about that before you even start out (the rewarding view is right at the end, so if you turn back it may be very wise but will feel like wasted effort). That said, young children also made it up there.
