It was lovely to stroll along the wide pavements in the evening. The park has some lovely trees n shrubs n was well kept. There were long benches for seating . It was fun watching a spontaneous performance of a young Malay boy in full outfit of a Chinese lion dance. People young and old looked relax and enjoying just being by the Muar River.

I am a Muarean. I was residing at Batu Pahat town years ago but came back about 5 years ago to be caretaker to my mum. I love Tanjung, my favourite haunt to relax, chill out or just be near the riverside, listening to the waves or just enjoying my solitude though I made some new acquaintances there. The cloud and river view are forever changing eg low tides, high tides, sunny days, gloomy sky etc. There are times you caught sight of monkeys, squirrels even otters at the habitat. There are various places to explore at tanjung area eg the jetty area, the waterfront, the food court, the walking /jogging/cycling track and the playgrounds. Favourite haunt for families at weekends too.

In the evening, we can see many people jogging and walking along the river. The place is neat and maintained the cleanliness by the local government.

I would have loved to do this riverwalk but the smell of sewage was so bad we didn't make it very far.

Travelled to Muar to visit a family members Chinese New Year lunch. Given that we had arrived early decided to talk a walk along the river, something we had never done before when visiting Muar. Spent a pleasent hour or two walking along the river from the fish market to the where the river meets the Melaka Straits. Note that for much of the distance there is no river walkway, but you can stroll along the path by the road which is adjacent to the river. Upstream on the south bank of the river is a large and fascinating local fish market which is well worth spending 10-15 mins in, the variety of the fish on sale is staggering, and the prices very cheap.

Depending on which part you are in, this can be quite pleasant for a stroll. For a small town also, the night view is also nice. One of the best viewpoints is from the Golden Lake hotel.

Relaxing jog or walk by the sea along the Malacca straits with sea breeze and seashore, there is no usual sea smell, only to prove the well maintained cleanliness by the local government. It is a perfect place to enjoy seeing the birds, natural mangrove, diverse floral and fauna.

but maybe we did not find the right section. We walked along Maharani Road all the way to Tanjung Emas and there was no river walk. We had to walk along the road until we came to a Tanjung Emas. Such a shame! River views could have been lovely.

I have visited the Muar River on many occasions whenever I pay a visit to Johor. The Muar River is very long and it discharges its water into the Straits of Malacca. Many ships are moored to the side of the river. At the edge of the river you can see coconut trees galore.
The nature park near Jalan Timbalan is very popular with locals and tourists from afar. Every morning and evening you can see hordes of Johorians jogging along the seafront. The sunset at the river is breath taking and when the sun was about to dip into the sea the vibrant red colours of the sky could be seen. The sea coast has several rain shelters and stone chairs for the weary traveller and mangrove trees here grow in abundance. At low tide you can see mudskippers jumping on the muddy shore. There is a jetty for visitors and if you reach the end of the jetty you can see monkeys jumping from tree to tree. There is a small car park before the entrance of the park. On weekends itinerant hawkers come here to sell drinks, curry puffs and tropical fruits. This place is worth a visit.
