Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nature lovers and good place for whoever interested in trekking, river, falls and extreme adventure like via Ferrata

We directly reached Mineral del Chico (end of road) from Hidalogo through minibus where you can find information turístico (CENTER). You can find lot of cabañas ranging from 500 to 800 pesos. I stayed in san pedro and it is near to River costs only 600 pesos for two persons. There are many rivers in this location. Climate is really good and freezing in december.

Activities to do:

1) Hi-Go adventures - Via Ferrata, Trekking & some adventure activities for families. They will provide you free transport also. One day activity but you can combine with below Rio del Milagro as both are on the same way.
2) Rio del Milagro - Nice place where you can find the river along with many falls. In some you take bath if you can (freezing). You can even camp in the open place near the river. To access this river you need to have your own transport as no public transport available from the center.
3) Peña del Monjas - If you need hiking, there are people near Church in the center will take you to this place in a group and cost you 250 to 300 pesos and some interior falls. One day activity. The same person will arrange a small trip at 8:30 PM night for 2 hours. you will visit some insects and get to know the place (50 pesos).

You have other activities in this place itself if you want to explore or go back to the LAGO's (3 places are there) which is enroute to Mineral del Chico from Hidalgo.

If you plan correctly, in two days we can cover important places and still one more day you can explore places. There are even places to relax.

Food is really awesome in any resturant that you eat and you will get awesome pulque natural.

A long twisty road, but a beautiful place. We went up the Mirador with a great 360 view. The ride up was 25 min in a 4 wheels drive, and at the top we met a young couple who had run the all way, even at this altitude!
Beauties bromelias grow everywhere. The park is very clean. A great place for nature lovers.

I like nature, I like the woods, I wanted cold weather in May for my honeymoon... It was almost imposible in Mexico to get someplace cold; but some friends recomended me to visit El Chico. I wish I had married on that place.

I've started my South America tour stopping in Mexico. I thought I was heading to the Myan ruins but ended up visiting the "Mine ruins" Nevertheless it ended up being a good trip. If you are going to do the walking tour make sure to bring hiking shoes. Some of the edges can be slippery and you don't want to fall down an abandoned mine. I will visit again and be better prepared. (Safety rope, more water, snacks etc to go further down the mines). I recommend if your near Pachuca area.

Inhale deeply as you walk through the pine forest in El Chico Parque Nacional, but be careful not to get lost!!! We stayed at El cedral and camped with family, renting a cabin. There's a lake and everything is beautiful! Price is reasonable.

The Mineral del Chico park is beautiful and offers a wide variety of spectacular views and activities: rocks, dams, rivers, forest, mines and the town is beautiful. There are many places to explore on foot and it is a great idea to take one of the tour bus tours to get an idea. We were amazed by the kindness of the people and the security we felt. There is a huge offer of cabins, so you have to do your research before choosing what is best for you. The only thing that is not spectacular is the gastronomy, but it survives. Ah, even in April it is quite cold at night!
