we stayed in good family accommodation, and dined/breakfasted at the restaurant. It was incredible to be greeted by mountain zebra, bontebook and ostriches on arrival, though less keen on the baboons. We had great bird watching, lovely walks and the dune path was stunning. It is worth the long drive down the dirt road.

Views, hikes, sunsets, birds, eland, peace and quiet - superb. There is a lot to do ranging from long hikes to boat trips on the vlei and walking around the rock pools. Stargazing at night is fantastic and the sunrises and sunsets superb.

There were plenty animals to look at and many, many birds. The roads were confusing and the map was not that clear. Still extremely enjoyable.

If you're going on a day drive into this park be prepared to take hats, sunblock, good walking shoes, your bathers etc. and refreshments. First drive to the Opstal area if you want to eat at the restaurant or go to the toilets and reception/gift shop and view the river etc. then drive down to the coast. We saw lots... More

Very comfortable accommodation in a beautiful nature park with wild animals around. Spectacular sand-dunes nearby, well worth the trip on a dirt road. Excellent meal in the restaurant.

The De Hoop Nature Reserve with its stunning coast line is always worth a visit. 10 years ago you took your kids, a spate and a bucket and enjoyed an unspoilt wilderness. Not nowadays, unfortunately. Our beach walk was transformed to an unintended but necessary beach clean-up. Within two hours we collected three bags filled with plastic and polystyrene products,... More

Dear Kristin D, Thank you for visiting and the feedback. Cape Nature do regular coastal clean ups but the polution of the greater oceans by international shipping lines poses ongoing challenges....especially from Chinese and Asian countries polluting our oceans.. The entire South African coastine has this challenge! More

We are living in coastal town, but this beach / shoreline is nature at its most beautiful. Drive to Koppie Alleen and walk about 300-400m. Then go left towards rocky shore whee you can see oystercathers, swim, tan or just enjoy the view. On the way back go towards and over the white dunes, and the vista takes your breath... More

We stayed 2 days at this Nature Reserve. While access is via 35 km of dirt road, it is definitely worth the trouble. We stayed at an equipped cottage. While using the braai, we were visited by a family of ostriches. Numerous other animals roamed nearby, such as bontebok and eland. The "adult' swimming pool had gorgeous views of the... More

What an experience!! The Whale Trail tried and tested my mental and physical strength but did so in some of the most beautiful scenery known to man! 60 odd km's travelled over 5 days with a group of amazing friends made for a wonderful holiday that was out of the ordinary!
