We walked from Pienza on well-marked footpaths, but you can also drive there. We were not able to enter the chapel; and there were a lot of people wandering around on a hot August day. It can also be seen from a distance from the...More

It’s a really cool place to visit. We went there at dusk (19:15-19:30 ish). This time is ideal to see a beautiful sunset on the surrounding landscape. Many famous pictures of this chapel have been taken at dawn, so the sun is behind the chapel...More

This chapel was a nice surprise on our way, hiking to Pienza. It cannot be visited. Surrounded by trees and visible from far.

This chapel must be one of the most photographed in Tuscany. It is easy to find; a small sign points the way down a gravel road off the highway between Pienza and San Quirico D'Orcia. You have to walk the last 200m alongside grain fields....More

Had read about this tiny little chapel before heading to Italy so knew it was on our “must see” list. Driving through the Val d’Orcia is even more spectacular than we anticipated so seeing this iconic capella as part of that drive was just frosting...More

Time of day and a deluge did not allow me a visit to the chapel, though I tried! The downpour ended my attempt due to the flooded road, however, the clouds and the light upon the land made the chase from the highway a memorable...More

This capella can be best photographed with a long lens (=> 200mm) from SP146 street, preferably with the silhoutte of Pienza in the background. It a Val d'Orcia classic and on many postcards. In my opinion it makes less sense to drive closer and walk...More

Dozens of reviews and no precise info on the location, so here it is….The GPS coordinates of the location you must park: 43.070279, 11.642020 From here, you'll walk 10 minutes on a very easy trail (it's in fact a closed road). Don't expect a magical...More

My husband read about this widely photographed chapel in Val d'Orcia and had to see it himself and take his own photographs. We followed our handy dandy but not so super trustworthy GPS and turned onto the road that eventually would lead us there. After...More

It's about 15 minutes maybe from Pienza by car. It's off the SR2 is all I remember. Look for the dirt road lined with cypress trees. That windy road takes you right to the Chapel. Michela
