A beautiful lake in the heart of fantastic scenery, we walked around the lake in Autumn and the surrounding colouring the hills were stunning. The walk is fairly straight forward and passes some waterfalls. Even though the car park was fairly busy the whole area...More

A must do place to visit with either low level lake walks or higher fell walks all with stunning scenery. Popular with dog walkers and the 'beach' on the road side of the lake had many deposits where the owners can't be bothered to pick...More

Nestled beneath Honister Pass and the great central fells and the majestic Newlands Pass this is the most perfect tranquil spot. Not surprisingly it is one of the most photographed areas of the Lake District. With such narrow and windy roads on all sides it...More

Excellent area for walking, with Alfred Wainwrights favourite place “Haystacks”. There are low level lake walks and high fell walks that suit all tastes.

This lake is extraordinary. The photography which can obtained here are spectacular. Access is by road, from Cockermouth in the north west; from Borrowdale via the Honister Pass; or from Braithwaite and the Newlands Valley via Newlands Hause. Recommended.

Hi, we are currently in the Lakes this week and I would recommend Grassmere instead of Buttermere to take dogs. There are several dog friendly hotels and bars in Grassmere. Also lots of great walks for dogs as long as you... More
