Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very small place with a very nice view and some very small paths. 20 to 30 minutes, depending on how many photos you will take. If you don't stop at all in ten minutes, you have walked the small available area and turned back. I didn't understand why we paid €3 entrance, it could be much better maintained. It also had a few exposed points, be careful if you have small children. I didn't regret going, but I think the €3 entrance fee is ridiculous

The castle was so beautiful and so many areas which were so exciting to see! I have always been interested in castles and this one was one of the best I have seen! It’s old, worn walls bring to life what it was like in the 13th century and it felt as though I had time travelled back to experience the incredible events that occurred there. Just stunning! A must see attraction!

You pay €3 to enter a castle that is largely left to itself and to decay. The view from above is also blocked by an ugly fence instead of repairing the viewing platform. It's not about the €3. But the way this historical site is being treated is pathetic.

Commanding grand castle views that overlook the town of Kalamata and the church. Well worth the steep climb to see the world from the top.

The castle over looks Kalamata and has good views of the bay and mountains. There are a couple of gates, some walls and a small (locked) church.
Interesting to stroll around, but probably not the finest castle you have ever been to.
2 euros entry, which is about right.

The views are ok but of the castle A bit of the walls are there and there is quite a nice little church, but there's not much else.
I spent less than 10 minutes there and the best thing about it was that it only cost €2. If it had been any more expensive I would have felt ripped off.

It's a wonderful place to visit for a stroll. It's a bit like a park. When you go all the way up you'll also have a wonderful view over the city of Kalamata.
And important: in case there is any performance in the amphitheatre up here - what is to be expected in the summer months - don't miss it, it's a really unique experience.

The castle is acccesible from south-west side of the town, or form other side then is situated The farmer´s market. Short hinking tour from Ypapanti Church is suitable also for little children. The entrence is for fees. If I good remember adults pay only 2 euro. Chidren under 6 are free. The best thing is great view on the town, Because there is no castle on the top, but only a park with small church surrounded by the wall.

There are great views and a really interesting history here. Not a lot of ruins but a nice start to a stroll down into the town to eat at the marina.

If you have an hour or so to spend in Kalamata you can walk up the hill to this Venetian castle in the old part of the town . Not much of it is left but it's still of interest to people who like to visit such sites. It often hosts concerts and the view from the top is worth the visit.
