Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Coatepec is a small quaint town that is fragrant with all the freshly roasted coffee. It is an attractive place to visit because it preserves an old-world charm. Many shops with local crafts and produce. The weather is highly variable so be prepared for rain, sun or windy conditions!

Coatepec is relaxed, quieter, better kept up and just as scenic if not more than Xalapa. Next time, I think I will stay here and commune into the city for the "must see" things there. It's a short, quick and cheap bus ride away.

Loved Coatepec. The aroma of roasting coffee is everywhere and the enticing scents of bakeries too. Yum. Interesting menus in restaurants. One trip here was not enough. Must return. I am one who thinks Coffee for the Americas and tea for the rest of the world. :-) This is within an hour from the capital of the state of Veracruz, Xalapa.

My family went on a two week trip to Veracruz and stopped in Coatepec for a couple of days. It is a beautiful town. We went on a coffee plantation tour the next day, along with other tourists, and were robbed during our coffee tour at gun point by robbers who clearly knew the plantation well. It was a frightening experience. Fortunately, no one was injured. Be very aware. Don't have any valuables on you and don't let any tour take you to a remote area with no security.

Walking the historic center in the shade of tiled overhanging roofs Coatepec is a beautiful place to visit. The zocalo is home to the only public orquid garden in the country and maintained by a nearby orquid museum. Excellent coffee served in hotels and restaurants Coatepec is center for quality altitude arabica bean production.

Mexico is of course famous for its coffee and 75% comes from the State of Veracruz. But the true Capital of Coffee (Capital Cafetalera) is Coatepec, nestled at 1200 meters halfway between the humid coast and the cool altiplano above. Have you ever plucked a coffee “cherries” from the tree? We toured the well-known Bola del Oro plantation, so well-kept that they have weddings there. I learned so much. Did you know that a two-acre piece of land planted with coffee trees and including a small farmhouse can be bought for as little as US$150,000? If you are planning to retire, this is an excellent destination

We visited Coatepec in April and loved the colonial buildings, the view of the volcano's and just the overall feel of the town. If you love coffee, which I do then this is heaven. Fresh Coffee being served everywhere from every building and some real nice street food available in the square.

I always enjoy attending the farmer´s market in Coatepec on Saturdays morning from 9:30 am to 15:00 pm, they are about 35 vendors with different items and there are always newcomers with interesting stuff. I tasted different kinds of goat cheese, great dark chocolate treats, beautiful jewelry with featters, and a very special apple vinegar.

Down town has this movie like atmosphere. Kids and elderly sitting in the main square just letting the time go by., or enjoying icecream . The best coffe ever in several cafeterias. People are very friendly as you would espect in a small town. If you are looking to eat fresh Mexican food and enjoy the best coffee, do visit Coatepec.
