First of all, do not expect a concentration camp which was preserved well as the ones in Poland or Germany. The half of the camp, where the barracks of the prisoners have been located were sold to the police academy!!!! So these buildings were turned...More

There is an English information sheet which explains well all the different areas of the camp. A lot of it was overgrown but you could still get a feel for the camp. I enjoyed seeing the trenches that had been dug out by the Dutch...More

This is an important site to visit, a sad history that should not be forgotten. It is a somber visit, difficult to understand how people could be so cruel to other people. Restored well, info cards in English available.

We visited on a rainy day, this seemed very fitting. It was very moving to visit and further understand what happened. Very sad, but a worthwhile visit and tribute.

We are lucky we learned about this relatively unknown concentration camp from a Dutchman while in Amsterdam. It is a short drive from Amersfoort and contains a small information center. Not much of the camp remains, but enough is there to portray the tragic story...More

If you visit Holland go to Amersfoort, to the "Polizeiliches Durchgangslager Amersfoort", the former concentration camp. I went there for the first time, many many years ago due to my fathers stay in the camp during WW2. And I have been returning ever since, a...More

This low key historical site and small museum illustrates the reach of the Nazi death machine. The information is in Dutch but the pictures tell the story. Take the walk to the firing squad and reflect on walking out, where so many walked only one...More
