Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you are in the area in summertime, please visit The Lehar Festival. This is possibly the most important operetta festival in Europe. The staging is very high quality, so is the performanca and the singers/actors. Indeed they ar all good singers and actors. We sw 2 operettas, both we enjoyed. The Congress House theater is ok, auditorium rather flat. In the interval a lot of space, the terrace restaurant is available. Please note: Strangely enough the is no texting, even germans can not understand all the singing. So please read the synopsis, or even better, the libretto in advance.

On August 1st we went to see the musical Hello Dolly! A nice light musical with pleasant sceneries, good singers and ballet!
We have been in Bad Ischel earlier years and saw many operettas. Next year they will stage the Count of Luxembourg and Gigi, the Parisian musical of which a film with Maurice Chevalier was made in the 50ies!

Beautiful, peace and quiet town like a picture. There was few people in Sunday. So almost closed shop, restaurant and so on. I recommend visit on weekdays.

Very German fest produced for locals who turn up in their traditional dresses. Good performance, decor and costumes considering it to be a local festival. Don't expect Vienna Operahouse! If your German is scanty it will be hard to follow the plays unless you read the story beforehand. Not very childfriendly at all.

Die Blume von Hawaii defies any degree of logical analysis, but wrapped into a biographical package of the work‘s composer, Paul Abraham and the context of his tertiary cerebral syphilis, the evening gains a new dimension to augment the step dancing, hip-slapping, vaudeville summer fun aimed at local audiencies who can relish home-grown casts familiar from TV and within the operetta/musical genre.
Poor diction among some protagonists as well as an overdose of slapstick costs a couple of brownie points in an otherwise bouncy summer romp!

Lehar light Opera. was OK, the singers had OK voices not comparable with Salzburg or Vienna, but here the singers can start to make their name.

Bad Ischl does operetta in a way that no one else does. Everything is done with great panache and brio. The audience is largely dressed in trachten which adds greatly to the atmosphere. The language used is an Austrian dialect which is difficult even for German speakers to understand but it is easy to understand what is going on. We saw the Count of Luxembourg. There is a feeling that many of the cast are well into middle age but they all seem to cope with the dancing involved. Well worth the visit.

The Imperial Days in Bad Ischl, combined with the Lehar Festival, are definitely worth a trip. The program that Bad Ischl offers for the Imperial Days is simply unrivaled. I have never experienced such an initiative before. You spend the whole day attending various tours and performances, parades and the like. Almost all of the offers are free. What this city offers for the Imperial Days is unrivaled. Tradition is still alive here. You could believe that the monarchy had returned during the Imperial Days. It is unbelievable how fantastic and fascinating the city of Bad Ischl has made these days. The enchanting Bad Ischl is always worth a trip, but especially during the Imperial Days. Hats off to this organization. Take a look at the Imperial Days. You will be enchanted and say like our old emperor: "It was very nice, I was very pleased!"

Every year it is a great achievement for the actors and musicians to present such opera performances to the audience in Bad Ischl.
