An enjoyable way to explore the Historic City Centre of Macau is to try one of the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) sponsored self-walking tours which include UNESCO World Heritage attractions as well as many other historical areas around Macau. You can learn about the MGTO sponsored self-walking tours by visiting the MGTO website - Plan Your Trip 'Planning' page.... More

Although it was a very hot day with crowds of people, we still managed to make our way around to the sites of the historic centre of old Macau. Getting a taxi to return to our hotel in Cotai was a nightmare----took us over half an hour of wandering the streets in the heat. The good news, when you do... More

we did a TON of walking today. Who knew that would be possible in tiny Macao. It was sometimes crowded, but definitely worth the effort today. Loved it!

Its just a square, with lots of people and old buildings around. You will find many people giving out things for taste and local delicacies being sold all around. Hustle bustle, church, ruins, museum, shops and a fort all in the vicinity

I was feeling a bit tired from our time in Hong Kong and, at first, resisted this side trip. I am so glad my spouse prevailed! We took the fast ferry - and the first class seats are well worth the expense. The historic center of Macua should not be missed. Some of the sites are a bit out of... More

This place looks more beautiful in the evening. However it is not recommended to visit this place if it is raining. There is no place to take a shade. One can easily walk to this place from ferry terminal. Taxi will also not cost much (30-40 HKD)

Travelled to Macau on a day trip. I think I'd prefer to come back for an overnight stay next time. The Historic Centre of Macau was very very crowded, unpleasantly so at times. The simple act of walking down the street was more like trying to work your way through a maze with moving walls, as crowds of people shifted... More

The Historic Center of Macau is a nice place to stroll around. There are lots of pastry shops, restaurants (both Chinese and Portuguese), and souvenir stores. There is a public performance/demonstration area. The District is small. When you wander outside of the district it is not as nice. Most major casinos provide free shuttles which is convenient for guests.
