A set of three old portuguese colonial houses within a garden/walkway with a view to what in the old days should be the sea and Coloane island, nowadays is an artificial lake with wetlands and the Casinos in Cotai, as City of Dreams and Venetian, for landscape. The buildings houses some exhibition purposes, shops and museum. Should be a good option to a relax walk and away from the bustling trade streets in Taipa village center.

There's not much to see really. This is small collection of 5 houses and only 2 were opened when we visited. 1 showcased a place of residence from colonial era which can be seen in under 5 minutes and the other is a souvenir store which was lovely. Good stroll-through nevertheless when in Taipa Village.
Right in front of the houses is the Taipa Wetlands Ecological Trail and next to it the Dra. Laurinda M. Esparteiro Garden. Across the garden, you can follow a series of travellators and overhead bridge that will take you to the Venetian.

We visited the Taipa Houses Museum and found it to be a good compliment attraction in Taipa Village. Here you will find a series of five restored Macanese houses, greenish in colour. The homes are typical of colonial Portuese era. The ticket price is MOP5 which gives you entrance into the first three houses. House 4 is free and House 5 was not open to the public. Entrance is free on Sunday and the Museum is closed on Mondays (as of August 2011)
House 1 was fashioned with furniture and indoor fixtures from the colonial time. However, everything is a bit overly polished, a bit to clean, when some rustic characteristics might have been appreciated better.
House 2 was more of a time capsule musuem of history of Taipa village. It was interesting, ready made for the history buffs.
House 3 was more of a Portugal exhibit, its regions and historical occupations and agriculture. It seemed a bit too touristy for us. As a result, House 3 was our least favorite of the houses.
House 4 was hosting a free art exhibit that was pretty good. Entrance to this house was free to the public and didn't require the MOP5 ticket.
Overall, we were happy with our 30 minute visit to the Taipa Houses Musuem and found it very good value for money at MOP5. While we would not target this musuem individually, it does make a worth while stop if you are planning to visit the very interesting Taipa Village area. We recommend combining the Taipa Houses Museum with the Museum of Taipa and Coloane History on the other side of Taipa Village.

When in Macau, just pay a visit to Taipa Island and Taipa Village. The most beautiful sight on Taipa is this museum of five lime-green summer residences of wealthy Macanese from 1921. Worth wile a visit!

This group of Taipa Houses is worth a visit. The Portuguese architecture is a delight and there is even a house which is furnished. Entry is free. Quite a pleasant place to visit.

Interesting to see some historically significant buildings, not many of them and surreal to look from them over the”lake” to the very artificial Venetian casino

Nice spot with surrounding gardens and the church but could only view two of the five houses. Go early as it gets busy.

While only 2 of the houses are available for us to visit and explore (2 are out of bounds, 1 became a souvenir shop) and that it provides a good glimpse of Macau unique heritage, the one that was mind blowing is the fact that it sits opposite the busy and eclectic casino centre of Macau. While casino central is all busy, this place is peaceful and calm that I felt I was in another world when I was sitting at the benches overlooking its ponds.
A must visit if you want to have a history lesson and a respite from the craziness of the casino area.

A very nice area to visit in Macau that is somewhat of an unknown to most visitors is the Taipa Houses Museum located on a nice promenade and artificial lake in Taipa Village.
Here you will find a lake, small wooded area and open space, which is used for various flower and plant exhibitions throughout the year. You will also find 5 well preserved colonial era buildings from the early 20th century. These teal-coloured buildings are lovely to see and photograph and are free to enter for all visitors. Opening hours 10-7pm daily.
The first building is the Macanese Living Museum which is probably the most interesting for visitors. Here you will see a fully furnished two story house with numerous rooms that you can peer into and photograph. Space is narrow and tight so just be patient if there are other visitors. The crowds move quickly.
The four other buildings used for exhibition space and art galleries. One of the buildings is now used as a gift shop selling locally made artistic items which might be tempting for those interested in finding souvenirs for their visit to Macau. The others usually have photograph or art exhibitions. They are all worth a 5-10 minute pop-in visit.
During my last visit, there was a good Chinese New Year photo show, which did a nice job of highlighting how colourful and festive Macau is during the holiday season. It would be nice if this remained on a long-term or even permanent basis.
Note: There are direct unobscured views of the Cotai Strip from the House Museum area in Taipa. The view is becoming more and more impressive as the Strip is filled in with more property developments each year. Views at nighttime when the sky is clear are very good!

Just besides the Taipa village. This place is likes by couples to be to take wedding photos.
Some buildings are opened to the public to view the interior decorations in the past. It is really a building museum.
