Small village of just over a thousand inhabitants but truly characteristic and particular. If you are on holiday as a couple or as a family and want to get away from the usual noisy Ibiza I recommend a visit to this small town in the evening for dinner. The central street next to the church has characteristic shops and really good places, such as the Santa Gertrudis restaurant (excellent for tapas, on Sunday lunch they make paella upon reservation) or the Costa bar, famous for its bocadillos. A really tiny place but it allows you to appreciate an authentic Ibiza that is different from the usual nightlife.

Every time we come to Ibiza a visit to Sta Gertrudis is a must. It has over the years become much more upmarket and trendy but it has not been spoilt, with the possible exception that the really interesting auction house with regular viewing days seems to have gone for good and the premises now house classy but expensive ceramics etc. and there are already a lot of this type of shop. There is a lovely little church too.

Bar Costa is the most famous cafe but for us oldies the seats outside, small low stools are too much for us to manage. Bar Santa Gertrudis next door is a better bet, and though we did not eat there the food we saw looked excellent quality, large portions and really cheap considering the location.

Santa Gertrudis de la Fruitera is a litttle town located near Ibiza Town, the main city in the homonymous Island. I came here at night in winter season, and it is a very nice and quite town. In fact, only has a few streets, where you can see the Mediterranean church of Santa Gertrudis, a little pedestrian zone with some bars like Bar Costa, restaurants and shops. A tiny town to walk and relax (in winter). Also in the surroundings of the town, there is on road an excellent restaurant and butcher shop: Can Caus.

This town is called 'unspoiled' in travel guides. However, it is full of so-called hippie shops with very expensive clothing and jewelry. All terraces are packed with tourists enjoying expensive dishes. I wouldn't call it unspoiled.

One word ‘Eclectic’. We came across this village based on recommendation from the car hire company. We were so glad we did. Spent a few hours and a few euros in the many and varied shops here. With everything from homewares, woollen goods and locally made products.
The church is lovely and the place has a nice charm. Worth a visit rather than some of the hippy markets which have many of the same products at high prices.

Nice town with nice shops for her and plenty of bars for him 😁. To visit during a little less weather, you are also around in a good hour if you do all the shops. Easily accessible and sufficient parking, but very commercial.

Santa Gertrudis is a little gem in a middle of Ibiza. Visited twice and enjoyed some good meals and done some great shopping. Although small the town centre has several charming boutiques with a boho twist and is a great place for a relaxing stroll and a tasty meal. Well worth a visit!

If you love the Classic side of Ibiza then this is the place to go, we loved the little boutique shops there if your looking for clothing or lovely gifts or something for your home you'l find it there! There are great food place as well are high budget, but most are good priced. It not the biggest place, but it loved and looked after and lots of locals how love their village. Worth to go for a couple hours to relax and enjoy!

A great place for a wonder around. Blink and you will miss it on the main road. Street parking and town square are free. Great jewellery shops (all prices) and cafes. Unusual auction house as well. Go to Costa for a brilliant lunch / dinner .....no not the huge coffee chain. This has amazing Spanish ham off of the leg, a surprisingly wide range of modern art - take time to look around as the pictures are worthy of a beer!
Oh and the San Miguel is poured from taps in upturned pigs legs ( metal of course )
Prices were around £2 a coffee and £4 for a well stacked freshly cut Parma ham toasty.
