Our experience at the Hunt Club Hotel couldn’t have been better, the staff were lovely, they had an open dining area and still the old fashioned bar where you could drink or have a meal. The place was filled with locals and tourists with a very friendly vibe.
The highlight of this place was the MENU and FOOD, there's nothing better than going to a pub with an extensive broad menu that is suitable for everyone. My partner is vegetarian and sometimes there can be a limited range of vegetarian options, this was certainly not the case. The food was amazing, not only did it taste great but the presentation was exquisite. The entree's were excellent also.
The first night I had the parma with veggies and chips, they also had a number of sauce options ranging from gravy, mushroom sauce and peppercorn. The second night I had a steak with veggies and chips, this was cooked to perfection.
My partner had the mushroom gnocchi the first night and the second night the mushroom risotto. So I highly recommend stopping in at this lovely establishment, 5/5 rating.
If you love great pub and great food, this is where you should be going. We had a good time! xo

We decided to visit the Hunt Club Hotel after visiting Mt Buller. We were convinced from previous reviews of good food that we must visit!
We awaited 1 hour for 4 meals, and there was only another small family and a couple in the restaurant.
Needless to say, the wait definately ruined experience for us. Meals were average. Chef did not look enthused or happy to be there!

Friday Birthday lunch with friends, the pub was very quiet with no atmosphere. The interior and outdoor areas are great, relaxed, a good old classic county pub feel, it would be lovely in the winter by the fire.
The Menu is really small and your typical pub grub. The meal was ok nothing special and the dessert that came with the lunch special was very disappointing pretty much a bowl full of cream with a few berries, I left it.
Not a great pub for families with young children as there is nothing to entertain kids here, not even pencils.

Stayed in the area and thought this would be a quaint style pub with friendly service. However it was a disappointment. The dated decor didn’t have a relaxed feel. The meals took forever to appear and the proteins were over cooked, dry and ungarnished. To top it off a staff member was rude.

We had a family weekend away and went to this pub for dinner. The staff are friendly, the food is great, the steak was delicious and the pub has a wonderful country atmosphere. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you drop in!

Awesome food. Friendly & prompt service. Great atmosphere!

Walked inside to find a beautifully set out and classy country pub, complete with barman/owner dressed in cowboy hat and boots. Within minutes we are in conversation with owner, female server and cowboy having a beer at the bar, what a great atmosphere. Had lunch and a couple of drinks, food excellent, service excellent, atmosphere excellent. Can't recommend this place more.

Amazing calamari and Parma!!! Both were cooked to perfection, but would only get the entree size calamari next time because the servings were Massive! :-) They had ice cold beer and great service too.

Open fire - reportedly a 'drawcard' to this pub - was far too tiny to warm the space it was in. The pub itself was full of kids, which I know isn't the pub's fault, but having them running around, pushing on the armchairs we were trying to relax on etc kind of spoiled any idea we had of relaxing for a quiet drink at the local country pub. My meal was pretty average, too, I ordered a vegetarian noodles and the noodles were undercooked. Glad to see it as I know it has a lot of history, and was interesting looking at old rodeo pics etc on the walls, but probably wouldn't go back again.

I had a Steak and veges with Jalapeno Poppers to start, and had more than enough left over for breakfast. Food was good, service was not fast, but not bad. Staff pleasant.

Does it have a shuttle bus service to sawmill settlement? Or Mansfield?

They may, but the shuttle only comes thru like one or two times a week, IF that. I did my research on came to the conclusion that since our two resorts were so far from the Melbourne airport, that I would need to rent a car. And for that I am so happy we did. We were able to see and EXPERIENCE so much more of Victoria having our own transportation. Hopefully you will see the practicality in a car rental for your visit to the Mansfield area. Why? Well, if you are a lover of nature and beauty, the area is rife with wineries, spectacular wildlife, interesting activities and geographical features; never a dull moment. Mountain alps with skiing, rivers, lakes, kangaroos and birds galore. It was priceless.
