Very interesting tour of the canyon, which is as high as 1km at one point. Crocodiles, monkeys vultures and plenty of birds. Saw a cool Christmas tree at the end created by fauna during rainy season. No need to buy the insect repellent or hats...More

Riding on a boat with capacity of 40 passengers, this is a must visit when in the vicinity of Tuxtla Gutiérrez. You are taken 35 km (20 miles) downstream the river through a canyon with green vegetation all over, local fauna and beautiful views of...More

We weren't impressed with the whole experience. The tour operators we used were friendly and helped us into the boat etc. Once the tour started it seemed to be the same thing for the next 90 minutes. The best thing we saw were the crocodiles....More

We came here for half a day while we were staying in SCC and el Cañon del Sumidero did not disappoint. This place is great and well worth the 200 peso boat ride. We saw birds, iguanas, crocodiles and monkeys and the canyon itself was...More

We came down with a 6yo girl and this was so much fun. We underestimated the heat so we were uncomfortable with the life vests on but once the boat took off we were cool again. The views are amazing, we saw an iguana, crocodile,...More

Amazing Canyon. We took the boat at Chiapa de Corzo pier for about 200 pesos (each) which was cheap. It was a nice tour and we were able to see the entire canyon from below and a beautiful waterfall in the middle of it. The...More

Touring the canyon by boat makes for a pleasant day. It's an impressive bit of scenery. However, there are sections that are clogged with floating trash. The site is important enough to be featured on the coat of arms for the state of Chiapas. They...More

I really enjoyed the boat ride. Inside the canyon it is way cooler. We saw a couple of crocodiles, lots of birds and lots of plastic bottles. The garbage really makes it unpleasant. The limestine walls are just unbelievable.
