This is really a must when you are in the neighbourhood. We took the 2 hour boat trip which costed 230 pesos. We went with Embarcadero cahuare, which was a good idea because popular and the boats are quickly filled up. In our boat we...More

Spectacular canyon views - better than expected. Saw crocodiles, baby crocodiles, howler monkeys, various birds. Waterfalls, one unusual one in particular. Wish they offered an English speaking guide though. You can buy snacks from a boat whilst on your boat before the return trip.

Cañón del Sumidero is a massive Mexican “grand canyon” north of Chiapa del Corzo. We took a 2-2½ hour speedboat ride down the Grijalva River to view the canyon. The pilot would gun down the river then cut the engine & let us view the...More

Got to see more than we expected. The rocks are breathtakingly high and the wildlife abundant. The only downside was the uninspired boat guide and the „lunch break“ next to the dam we were forced to take under the merciless midday sun where a boat...More

I was skeptical about the 2 hr boat ride on the river... however, the day before, we had gone through the 5 Miradores which are located above the Canon... It was quite an exciting boat ride - now being under the 1000 meter rocky walls...More

A really gorgeous place, the cliffs tower above you up to 1km in height, even saw some monkeys in the trees. Some downsides being the disgusting amount of rubbish floating in the water along the way, and at the turn around in the end you...More

Visiting thus gorgeous naturel park by a 2-4 hour boat trip is both worth it for people who love scenery and who love animals - we saw crocodiles, monkeys, vultures and herons. There are a cave shrine and various interesting geological formations. To visit the...More

They picked us up in San Cristobal ( in the place were we stayed.) 40 min aproximately from Sancris to El Cañon. Very cheap tour. $240 per person. The tour in boat was of 2:30 to 3 hours. The boat driver was very cool (...More

I want to take a boat ride through the canyon and also go to the lookout points. My plan is to get the boat ride there at the dock (not a prepackaged tour) but then how would I go to the lookout points? I imagine that you must drive between each point? Are there buses that drive to each lookout point? Or can I walk it? Or perhaps rent a car? If I do rent a car, is there a good place to park while on the boat ride?

I would just take the boat ride. It's part of all the tours that run from SCC, it's cheap, it's easy and the views are amazing. The walls of the canyon are so high in places that I can't imagine that there's an easy way of... More
