I spent a lot of holidays in the alps/mountains and never found something like this there: SO this really is a special experience, which is a lot of fun. Combined with amazing views its a must do on this side of the lake :)

It's called the bucket lift, and that's exactly what it is. It takes you up the mountain in buckets for 1 person or 2 persons. You can choose an open bucket or closed bucket. The views from the top (1000 Mts ) are spectacular. There's...More

This was an absolute highlight of our trip around Lake Maggiore, and I highly recommend it for all but the elderly or those with a fear of heights! The ‘buckets’ you go up in are either open or closed - definitely take the open one...More

The very best value for money we spent in Italy. We went to Como the day before and the line up for the cable car up the mountain was insane. Somehow found ourselves at Funivie after a train trip to at Lake Maggiore and 20...More

Riding an open air bucket was a really, really fun way to see spectacular views over Lake Maggiore. There is one tiny, split second of scariness on the way down (if you look down) but overall it's not scary at all. You are too busy...More

Great thing to do with amazing views across the lake. 10 euros return. Takes just over 15 minutes to get to the top and definitely not one for the faint hearted. We opted for the open bucket option to get the best views. Had a...More

Very steep ride to top. Open and closed "buckets". Closed ones very hot but open ones not for faint hearted or lemmings! They slow the cable down if you need time to get in, otherwise just grab front rail and they slam the door behind...More

I think your parents will be fine. You need to step into the buckets but they are not too high off the ground, approximately 30cm. When you hop on and off there are operators to open and close the door on the bucket. They... More
