About
A tiny island, little more than a rock-cliff, which is occupied almost entirely by a small, rustic village with narrow, winding lanes.

Visit Isola Bella and the palace in the morning then continue on to this island for lunch as it is known for its many restaurants. Do take the time to stroll around the island (it doesn't take long!) and its cobbled streets. Here you will see the two-storey houses have long balconies which were used to dry fish.

On my visit to stresa I decided to go to isola superiore (or pescatori) rather than the other 2. If you visit stresa and have time to visit all 3 then do so, but if you dont have a lot of time to visit the palaces on the other islands, then at least visit one of them. Isola superiore is the smallest and easiest to get around. It also has many restaurants and if you go to the west of the island you will find a nice sitting spot or go swimming in the water. It also has great views of the other 2 islands.

A small island but known for its many restaurants. It doesn't take long to wander round it or take a stroll through some of the narrow passages.

Like many we visited whilst the restaurants were open for lunch, it's busy. Nice island but if you're not here to eat then there isn't much else to see/do.

I could only describe this island as a restaurant island. There were restaurants absolutely everywhere from one side to the other and from shore to the top. There are quite a few shops and market stalls as well but without a doubt there are meal choices galore.

Our favourite island in Lake Maggiore. Small and intimate. We had a packed lunch which we thoroughly enjoyed then a coffee and cake before we left the island. A very special place and easy to walk around in no time.

To me, it was a very positive surprise when I visited the Isola dei Pescatori, especially the whole village which seemed to be very historical with many narrow lanes and colourful painted houses. There are also some villas with palms around as littoral winds from the Ligurian and Adriatic Coast come that far in the Alpine foothills. To walk around the village, it felt like being on the same place for 300-400 years ago; it was the similar feeling to that of visiting some of the romantic Cinque Terre (Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza) or old Lake Como villages (Bellaggio, Varenna, Menaggio), as there are also some nice views to the Lake Maggiore all around. There are also many restaurants, it is maybe the best place to eat there during your visit of the Borromean Islands. Go there early to avoid the crowds and to have this nice village to yourself and your travel partner(s). This is romantic Italy in its best way.

By 7pm the last public boat leaves and the islands is yours !
We stayed at the hotel belvedere and had a great time
Hotel is basic 3 star but very clean
Food on the Island is excellent and gat place to spend two days
We were tricked into taking a private boat across with our luggage 40Euros compared with the public boat 4Euros so be careful and parking is best at the Stressa ferry port
A definite place to stay

I liked very much this tiny island.. Its beautiful, very colorful, with such lovely cobbled pathways and nice small restaurants!!
You can spend there 3-4 hours, see the small church, have a lunch or a dinner, strolling around in the back streets.. Its lovely really!!!
You can be there by boat, very easily from Stresa or Baveno or elsewhere. There are many boats going there, so you can choose your time for visiting, combining with something else in the lake.

After visiting Isola Bella island we came to this small island. it only takes a few minutes to walk around it and apart from St. Victor church there is little other than shops and pricey restaurants.

The Fisherman's Island could be lovely, with narrow winding streets, great views of the lake and a small beach area. However, it has become overcrowded with "tat" shops selling all sorts of cheap souvenirs, some of which aren't even relevant to the island. I thought that there may have been a museum telling the story of the island and the fishing industry but I couldn't find anything explaining this, which was a shame, it seems as though they aren't interested in the culture of the island, but are concentrating more on the commercial operations.
