While the residence / palace itself was very beautiful, it was the gardens that really captured my interest. There were a number of white peacocks strutting through the grounds. I spent time wandering through the gardens and noted that the owners (or their gardeners) had...More

This gorgeous island is accessed by motor boats which leave from various locations, which also serve the two other nearby islands. Apart from the ferry charge, there is a charge of about €16 per person to visit the island, which allows you through the enormous...More

Words cannot express the immense scale of this place. It must be seen to be appreciated. It took four centuries to complete. Give it at least 3 hours. In my opinion, this the top attraction in the Lago Maggiore area. You will start with the...More

Best to visit in combination with 3 island hopping. This island is the 2nd stop and for sure the most impressing one. The palazzo is huge and has so much to see (if you are willing to pay 16€ per person). In combination with the...More

We walked towards the ferry kiosk but were intercepted by a guy talking about the three island tour. He redirected us to a perfectly good looking booth and sold us a pair of tickets for the day. Then chaperoned us to a small vessel off...More

Stunning island with beautiful gardens. We did the day trip visiting all 3 islands - Isola Madre first, Superiore second and Bella last, and timed it so that we had lunch on Superiore which was really good. The gardens and whole island are beautifully maintained...More

We greatly enjoyed touring this palace and gardens. The family symbol is a unicorn and the family motto is “humility”. That just cracks me up! It is a beautiful and ornate palace with extensive art collection.

Boat trip from Arona via Stresa took about 1hr 20mins. Lovely views en route. Beautiful palace and gardens too. Plenty of little shops to while away time before heading back.

This is well worth a visit. There are a lot of rooms to go through the Palace with some fantastic history and great views over the lake. The stone grottoes on the lower level are particularly exciting to go through. After that, the gardens are...More

The villa is certainly spectacular but the gardens are amazing and we could have spent the entire day there The boat ride to the island was fun A bit crowded but the garden cafe was relaxing and delicious

Hi, there are boats to the Isola Bella and the other islands, leaving quite frequently. You will need at least two hours to see the palace and the gardens, but four would be better. There are cafes and food stalls near the... More
