This is well worth a stop on your drive to or from Taormina. The gorgeous Gorge is lined with columnar basalt and on a warm day you will love wading back and forth across the river to enjoy relaxing on the warm giant boulders ! Super lovely for any nature person, geology lover or botanical heart.

Arriving to the park is fairly easy, but once you park your car (which is free), go out in the road same way you entered, walk to the LEFT about 150 meters, buy first ticket in another side if the road (biglietteria) for 1.5€ and then go down 224 steps to arrive at the cold, icy river. Mind that there... More

The Alcantara Gorge provides a spectacular insight into a volcanic past. The rock formations are memorable - folded basalt column (apologies to all geologists!) - sliced into by crystal clear waters. It is well worth taking swimming attire and going past the first bends to explore but be warned the wasters can be chilly! Overall the Fluvial Park is well... More

We enjoyed several good walks along the fast-flowing river away from the "tourist trap" of the Gole (which when we tried to visit was full of coaches and there was almost nowhere to park). The Gurne which is close to the road from Francovilla to Castiglione is perhaps the nicest spot for a walk; we had a picnic by the... More

When you arrive at the parking lot don't pay 13 € at the private entrance, but look for the public staircase (just 100 m far), it's only 1 € for about the same services. Very recommended the body rafting, ask for "Ciccio" very kind and helpful also for other activities.

Though we knew that you do not have to pay anything to see the gore, we still felt safer to join a guide. With the guide we could do a bit more but not too much because of the hired apparell. For free one could visit the botanical garden, the museum, the 4D 5 minute presentation, walk down the stairs/use... More

The site can be accessed by a public entrance "accesso comunale" 150 mts away from the main parking and stairs. With the 9 euros ticket you pay for an ugly concrete structure containing the elevator.... an elevator here!? what a shame! and for a private walk of no great interest ( we have heard). A nice to do stop along... More

We went there this August and sicne we had a small child with us we really could not go on the adventureous tracks. The lifts available are very fast and there is very little waiting time involved. Once down there, one must simply enjoy it!
