About
Soak up the romantic Mediterranean vibes and architecture along the cobbled streets of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the labyrinth of historic houses, bars and restaurants, and quaint little shops selling souvenirs, Greek food, olive wood, and handcrafted goods. From the old town, you can visit the Old and New Fortresses that offer a slice of Corfu's maritime history, and amazing views of the town and sea; Spianada Square is also a great spot for people-watching and is a stone’s throw away from the Corfu Museum of Asian Art—all of which are typical stops on a tour of Corfu. – Tripadvisor

    Touristy but worth the visit
If staying on Corfu a visit to the Old Town is a must. The narrow streets are charming but heavy with somewhat similar tourist orientated shops. The town was busy when we visited at the end of May.

Corfu Old Town-Beautiful Venetian architecture and lively cultural center
Corfu Old Town is a great place to spend 2 or 3 days sightseeing before heading to the beach towns on the island. We really enjoyed the Venetian architecture, visiting the museums, and seeing the colors of the town change from morning, sunset, and nighttime. At night, the locals families and children come out to stroll and the day trippers are gone. It’s refreshing to see everyone out walking and enjoying the evening air. Lovely restaurants, cafés, and artisan shops line the narrow streets, and the historic district is very pedestrian friendly. Wear your comfortable shoes and be aware that some areas are paved with cobblestone near the waterfront. Easy to do 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day, and there are many good hotels for overnight stays.

Lovely place for a wander around
We visited Corfu town for the day whilst we were on holiday about an hour away from the town. It's an old town with a mixture of shops, cafes and historical places (church, castle etc). Quite small in the main area so a few hours will suffice to get a good look round.

Explore Corfu old town at your leisur
Old Corfu town is very quaint with lots of narrow streets lined with individual shops. We stayed in an AirBnB in the town centre which was an ideal location for seeing the sites. Having hired a car we found a private car lot nearby to our accommodation and parked there for 3 days. Old Corfu town is definitely worth a visit, however can become extremely busy when the cruise ships are in port.

    Beautiful Town
One of the most beautiful small towns I have ever visited. The streets are packed with lovely shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, etc. Lovely Venetian architecture with quaint side streets to wander around. Nightlife is buzzing! Just beautiful!

    Definitely worth a visit
Beautiful old town to walk round with cobbled streets. Lots of restaurants & shops to wander around. Lovely harbour. We did an evening trip from Kavos, cost 15 euros each for the return trip. Leaving Kavos at 6pm takes an hour to get there, leaving Kavos at 11.30 pm for the return. There are earlier times available

Fun walk with lots of shopping opportunities
The Old Town of Corfu is an attractive shopping and restaurant area with narrow walkways. Lots of tourists but everyone seems on reasonably good behavior and is friendly. There are a variety of shopping alternatives and the opportunity to compare prices since there are at least two similar stores on almost every block. Quality of goods seem a plus. Because of buildings, there is less heat beating on you in this area so walking around can be pleasant. Many good choices for food and drink as well.

Corfu, Greece - An old city worth your time
This ancient town is full of interesting places to see and experience. The Old Town has narrow streets with beautiful architecture and history at every turn. The twists and turns were easy to be lost in, but we always knew we would find our way out. It's exciting, not intimidating. Small restaurants and shops everywhere and worth your time.

A lovely escape from the sun
A lovely place to escape to, have a walk down the alleyways and see what you can find. Plenty of small shops selling everything from (olive) wood sculptures to typical Greek towels with a lot of souvenir shops. You won’t have to walk far to find somewhere to sit and have an ice cream/pizza/Greek coffee. When it’s a very hot day the shaded roads and air conditioned shops are a lovely escape. If you go after 6-7pm it becomes alive again and much more lively. We even found live music to listen to.

    Wonderful Corfu Town
Beautiful Corfu Town is unique and historical with so much to see and do. The buildings with Venetian influence are so pretty. It was nice strolling through the many picturesque narrow streets. Lots of nice restaurants, bars and shops selling local produce such as honey, olive oil and much more. A great selection of delicious ice cream to choose from. A must see is St. Spiridon Church, the patron saint of Corfu. On certain days open air events take place on the square and the marching band was amazing. Spending time at Liston in the evening and enjoying cooling drinks was so nice. The Corfiot locals were very friendly. Wonderful place, can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.

Ok, I don’t for 1 second feelnderstand what’s positive about this place? Its horrible!!! I think some folks get lost in the fact they are on holiday!!! Corfu old town is a day wasted….i say that having been 3 times…..there really isn’t too much to do but n Corfu!!! I’ve been to Rhodes and Kos, both of them absolutely are miles better than Corfu!!! The old town is basically “the main event” it’s really the only thing here!!! Imagine a scooby doo Buffett scene and that’s Corfu old town….wooden crap, T-shirts, restaurant, jewellery shop…….thats it!!!! That’s your lot!!!! The only reason we’ve gone 3 times is to get some walking done!!! Corfu on the whole thing s a hole!! I fly home on Wednesday and I can’t wait!!!!! This isn’t me just being negative by the way this is how it is!!! It’s like a 3rd world country….maybe it is? I don’t know! But the whole place is just not for me! Beautiful sea, some nice scenery…..that’s as positive as I can be! The old town also STINKS!!! I mean it pegs!!! There are folk eating outside while it smells of genuine sewerage!!! There are tour buses which take you to 14 stops apparently….we’ve not far off walked the route and its pants!!
Would I come to Corfu again?? Surprisingly not!!! Hand on heart wales or Scotland (great country’s) absolutely smash this place to bits!!! If you’re coming here to sit in a hotel and sunbath without leaving the hotel you’ll be sound! If like me you want to walk, go out, see and do things then stay at home!!!! I have more going on in my back garden than this place!!

Be prepared. Wear sneakers, find a spot for parking away from the center, always appear an hour before a happening, and consider 50% plus at all expenses

It’s an Old Town, pretty much the same as any old town. Pleasant to wander around or sit & enjoy a coffee. The castle/fort is well worth the entry fee & offers spectacular views.

We had a lovely walk through the old town & had nothing but friendly treatment. We came in on the city bus which was very good & and economic way to travel. Glad we did as parking looked scarce. We had a very nice lunch in Liston. Thank you to a trip advisor reviewer who said what a lovely area it was. I will review the restaurant separately. The architecture around Liston was stunning and views spectacular. Part of my reason for writing this review is that I really wanted to take issue with the reviewer who stated that Greeks were racist - Just because of one small incident. I saw absolutely no evidence of this. I did see a waiter being extremely kind and friendly to 6 beautiful black ladies having lunch at a restaurant. To judge a whole race of Greek people on one incident is outrageous & unfair. Perhaps the reviewer is the one who is racist.

Very rude shop keepers. Not welcoming and racist. Never had such treatment anywhere we travelled. Spoiled our day visiting this place. If you are dark skin person don't visit this place. Some of them were staring at us. Went inside a shop selling handmade soap near the juice and bakery shop and the lady in the shop showed a hand gesture to my 6 year old daughter to stand outside as she was holding a bagel which was inside a paperbag. I felt so hurt my child, my hus and me was poorly treated by her and some old greek men standing next to her. Till then I thought greek people are friendly and well mannered. After this incident we felt so low as a family of 3 having a single child. You greek people should know dont treat someone with their skin color. You should realise without tourist you cant live in that place in corfu! This skin color doesnt matter after your death. It decomposes and become worms food!! I met a street dog it was such a lovely and friendly dog far well behaved than the people there!

The city center was lively and fun. Good shopping, food, people watching, and architectural history.
It was not difficult to walk.
I would suggest a cab over a bus, to get there. The busses are crowded.
However, the bus is a cheap option. Cabs are crazy expensive.

Going about in Corfu from a cruise ship is easy. Out of the ship, look out for the blue public bus no. 16 which only runs when a ship is in port. If it is not there, walk outside the port gate to take blue bus no. 15. Both will bring you to the old town. Buy a day ticket for Euro 5. Bus no. 16 will drop you at a car park near the shore. Walk along the shore for about less than 5 minutes and you'll see an arch. It's next to the Asian Art Museum. Walk across the Esplanade and catch bus no. 2A. At the end of this route will be Kanoni, which is where Vlacherna Monastery and Mouse island is. When done, back to same bus stop to old town. After alighting, walk straight across the old town to San Rocca to take bus no. 10 to Achillion Palace if you wish. When done, same bus stop will bring you back to old town. The schedule on this route is less frequent, so look out for time. Last part is to go to the Old Fort, the churches, museums and walk around the old town. If you miss the no. 16 bus, not to worry. Go to San Rocco square and take bus no. 15 back. It's a slightly longer walk but no sweat.

This place gives off such good vibes and it's usually very busy. There are a lot of small shops with merchandise and trinkets, and is overall fun to walk through the streets. One thing that could be improved a little is the litter.
