I honestly didn't really enjoy my time here. Tickets we're a little expensive, they don't accept foreign student cards for discounts either. There's little information about what you're actually visiting and its significance, and a lot of tourist shops. Unfortunately we only had a couple...More

This large complex is worth a whole day trip! (Including pagoda forest). Very beautiful and busy walk up to the temple. Got to witness a kung fu show outside and one inside of children. We had already visited a small school that did a private...More

An eye opening for me to see many students practicing in the big space. Was really excited when waiting for the performance. They were really good and was enjoying their real 'kongfu' but towards the end of the show, it snowed unexpectedly as it shouldn't...More

If you ignore the trappings of the modern day tourist-destination, you will find glimpses of the monastery's past here and there. Truth to be told, the abundance of over-priced tourist-shops selling the same merchandise was a bit jarring. The martial-arts show was entertaining and impressive,...More

It was my dream to visit Shaolin Temple since my childhood. I took a trip this year and I guess my wait was not a waste. The temple was maintained well (except for permitting people to smoke inside the temple), The kung fu show was...More

This attraction is full of ancient Chinese culture and history. Not a lot of walking. There are a couple of concession booths nearby. Not totally wheelchair accessible.

Well if you know who David Carradine is this is a place worth seeing. Firstly there is only one original building left standing, the others are still over 100 years old and very ornate according to traditional architecture. Once you have seen that the rest...More

The Shaolin show is definitely suitable for a 6 y/o and there are quite a few young kids amongst the performers. The theater is small and packed. Shows are booked in advance and it is advisable to start queuing for your... More

Hi snorkel-luvin. Nope you won't get lost! The mountain is just past the pagoda forest (which isn't a real forest but rather like a park with lots of pagodas commemorating the previous abbots). But I also agree with... More
