You can trek up Mount Song if you are very fit, otherwise you can get to top via cable at a cost of ¥100 per trip. The view up the top is not that fantastic. Not worth sending the money to get to the top and down.

There are many paths and stairs to hike up this wonderful mountain as well as 2 cable cars (50-80RMB) to get to the top. After visiting Shaolin, you can hike up to the Dharma Cave or one of the other peaks. Very nice day out.

I preferred this to visiting the temple, the cable car was a good way up (and down) there are enough steps on the hike without needing do the ones up and down. The plank way walk has some great scenery although the temple at the end is newly built

Mt. Song was a great place to visit. I was able to visit during a trip to Shaolin Temple in August 2016. I highly recommend it.

This is absolutely beautiful scenery, with some really fascinating rock formations on the way and is great for those who enjoy a hike. General information: Mount Song (嵩山, songshan), is within the Shaolin Temple scenic area, entry for which costs 100 RMB. If you go into the Shaolin Temple scenic area via the main entrance, you reach the Shaolin Temple... More

Hiking and meditation combined. It took 7hours to make 15km hiking in SongShan path. I really loved monasteries! Choose your favorite and meditate

Take the cable car to the half way stage and then walk for hours along the edge of the mountain. Amazing scenery and breath taking views. You can walk all the way down if you can arrange for someone to pick you up at a different exit.

One of the best thing you can do after visiting shaolin temple is to visit Song Mountain. It is not a very high mountain, but the view is fantastic.

We visited the mountains in april and the weather was great. We took the cable car on both ways up and down, because we only had half of the afternoon to visit. If you want to see the cliffs and the plankway, take the new cable car that is further away from the temple on the left side. It is... More
