Visited Koh Kudu lagoon beach (1.4 Km north of Koh Yao Noi) as part of a self guided sea kayak paddle from the The Paradise Koh Yao Boutique Beach Resort & Spa. Koh Kudu is about three kilometres paddle from the Paradise resort following the Koh Yao Noi coast then paddling across a channel to Koh Kudu Yai. Our self guided kayaks were available free as part of our stay at Koh Yao Noi Paradise. If kayaking, take all the water and food you need. Pick a calm sunny day. Use lots of sun cream. Wear a life jacket. Take rests at the many beaches. Be safe. We went around high tide and did not sense any currents.
Koh Kudu lagoon and its beach are hidden from view by three limestone towers across the entrance. By calling into Sea Gypsy Cave first, there is not only an opportunity to rest but also an opportunity to sight clearly the destination for the next stage of the paddle. Kayaking north beside Sea Gypsy Cave beach to the rock climbing headland keeps the kayak close to the safety of Koh Yao Noi’s shore before striking out for the 1.4 Km across the channel to Koh Kudu. We landed our kayak at Koh Kudu lagoon beach back in May 2013. From the Koh Kudu lagoon if you paddle out through the gap to the right, a small Koh Kudu beach on the main channel between the Islands is soon reached. By resting here, Kian Bay beach can be clearly discerned for the paddle back across the channel to Koh Yao Noi and a visit to the big tree behind Kian Bay beach. I wrote a review of our kayaking adventure here:

For safety, as an aid to navigation, I took a large, highly detailed cloth print of the satellite image for the north of Koh Yao and the Koh Kudu islands. Now I am done with it. Also I had printed a few variants. Contact me if you want to buy it and I can post it to you. Cloth is colorfast and so has advantages over paper if wet and cloth can be stuffed into gear or a pocket.
Koh = Island, Yai = big, Noi = small. There is also a Koh Kudu Noi which is a smaller island to the west of Koh Kudu Yai. If you did not want to strike out across the open water channel between the Islands, it is probably around 4 to 5 Km return trip from the Paradise resort to Kian Bay along the coast of Koh Yao Noi. As a way to see remote scenic places like Kian Bay and Koh Kudu Yai Island, I would recommend the package we got and – a AUD$1K group buy voucher including airfares from Sydney, 8 nights on Koh Yao Noi with breakfasts. But do your research. Be aware of isolation, prices, mud flat at low tide and too murky for clear snorkeling. For the right person it is fabulous. Peaceful. Exciting. Marvelous holiday.

I hired a fishing boat for a day to go to the small islands north of Koh Yao. Koh Kudu was one of them. It is a small, amazing island! The entrance is blocked by two big, and one baby limestone rocks. The rocks form a little green lagoon in front of the island. I had the place to myself for a heavenly (Thai) picnic lunch on the beach. It was absolutely peaceful, with the sounds of the jungle behind and the waves lashing up to the rocks in front. The sand is so soft and white, your feet just sink in while walking. There are pretty trees, that make every view picturesque! And the packed lunch and my guide/boatman were great too!

we found this island with our rented longtailboat in the north of koh yao noi and without question koh kudu was one of the highlights during our stay in thailand this time. easily explained koh kudu is a mixture between maya bay and bond island and at the moment in relation to tourism completely unfrequentated. we had the beautiful halfmoonbay for us alone and it was a pleasure to spend our lunch time and the following afternoon there. the quiet atmosphere and the very special, from the nature created surrounding gave the rest to make this stop unforgettable for us. we were very happy to be there already this year, because without question in the next years there will be more and more people, who find the way to koh kudu and it will be a crowded place like koh hong, which is not far away.
generelly we can recomment koh kudu very much. a perfect place to stay for an afternoon to spend some lazy hours in the sinking sun. it is necessary to bring drinks and food, because there is nothing. a very romantic place also perfect for honeymooners and people who want to have quiet and authentic thailand without noisy mass tourism.

Took five hour tour of this area which included exploration of the caves via kyaking (did not undertake this), tour of surrounding islands then explored the mangroves at low tide complete with bats and mozzies. Had lunch included on the beach, although very uncomfortable due to mozzies. Also took a tour of the village and surrounds. Lunch at a very good family run restaurant. Great freshly cooked food.

Kayaked from Koh Yao Noi to here. Is just as good as James Bond Island and without the swarms of tourist boats.
Once inside the small bay you are in awe of the giant limestone pinnacles that rise out of the water.
There is a small sheltered sandy beach to pull up on. Take the 2 min jungle trek to the opposite side of the island for more great views.

Great spot! We kayaked over from Koh Yao Noi and enjoyed a rest on the beach. Only a few other visitors while we were there, although we did get the beach to ourselves for a few minutes! Stunning rock formations.

Spectacular islands. We took kayaks and had a great day exploring the inlets, cover and caves. Then lunch and swimming on a picture post card beach. So many islands and stunning places to explore. Not to be missed.
