Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you look for tranquility and warm water close to "big city" amenities, go to Praia do Forte. There are a solid ecotourism in place and a variety of activities and nature, such as trekking, paddling, snorkeling, surf and chilling out.

Almost too perfect to tell about, but really is a must to visit and stay for a few days, or better yet a week. The little town is a perfect pedestrian village with more shopping than we could get through in 4 days, and a lot of dining options. We found the atmosphere very friendly, clean, and totally safe. The Project Tamar was awesome too. We stayed at Enseada Condomínio Residencial Praia do Forte, the pool overlooks the ocean and is a beautiful complex, however, our condo #119 was not so perfect and I would recommend trying a different one. But, the rest of the complex and the village was so perfect we could overlook the less than perfect room. There are not a lot of people who speak English, but a couple of Portuguese phrases, and a translation app and we had no problems. The people here are very nice. I have traveled all over the world and this is now one of my favorite destinations.

Very nice, relaxing place. However, kids don’t enjoy much because of the rocks. Take some shoes for them to walk around...

Also, “gringos” are usually overcharged there. I’ve overheard a conversation between two people selling drinks and talking about the price differences. I was extremely disappointed at this .

Beautiful beach! We paid R$40 for 2 chairs. A lot of locals come to sell products on the beach... cheese, nuts, jewelry and more. Great water. Lovely vibe.

We walked left past the Tamar project, so this refers to that part of the beach (which is actually called Praia da Pedra do Chapeu, but that’s not on Tripadvisor!) It’s a short walk along the beach from the town of Praia do Forte. If you walk further you can easily reach Praia do Lord. The beach is quite narrow, but it doesn’t feel too crowded. In the morning the tide was still quite far in, so you had to be careful of the rocks and wade into the sea between them. It was still manageable even with small children. During the day, the tide went right out. I would guess low tide was about 2pm, but hotels can probably let you know. At low tide, there are lots of rock pools, and other sandier areas. There are no waves and it’s a good place for beginner snorkellers (such as small children) to have a go. You can swim further out if you are more confident. There are lots of fish to see, even in the shallow water. In fact non-swimmers can just stand and look down. We watched crabs, a sea cucumber, a brittle star as well as fish all in the the rock pools. We managed without special shoes, but some of the neoprene wetsuit shoes would have been good. Another interesting thing along the beach are the white poles marking off turtle nests (and monitored by Tamar). We felt honoured to share the beach with the turtles.

What else to say? Our 2 chairs and umbrella cost Rs20 for the day. Lots of the beach barracas take card, but debit is preferred, and the machine may not always work (though they will find one that does if you don’t have cash!)

Only spent an hour here in between Turtle Exhibits and lunch reservations
Beach was good for a quick swim and wade in calm waters. You can rent a surf paddle board from the hunky guy on the beach and or sit at one of the umbrellas and chairs provided by restaurant if you are using their service.
People seemed relax and chill.
The walk down the road from drop off to beach is full of quaint shops and some restaurants.
There are hard working boys who will ride you on their bike/rickshaw up and down street if needed.
Nice town and nice beach. Worth a visit if you need a break from bustle of Salvador

Watch the tide and choose the low one to get in beautiful warm puddles of water. Small kids will love playing with sand and watch small fishes all around

strated in the 60s as a celebrity hippies spot, now it has become a little bit of a tourist trap. Nonetheless is a cute and charming place that is worth the detour

Awesome place!!! Beautiful and with a lot activities for the children. My regard is for the poor menu, without many options of beverages. But is worthy to get back!
