Treat yourself to slightly more expensive than normal backpacker food for a day and enjoy the fabulous food on offer in the streets around the main plaza every weekend. You can find some really good quality food and all freshly prepared 'a la plancha', yummy.

Go on a Sunday for the food market - all plates $5. Food is of excellent quality and a big range of options, all set in the nice square.

We spent almost two weeks in Juayua across two stints in the town in large part because of this wonderful little festival. The town comes alive on the weekends and the Feria Gastronomica is the place to be!

Nice way to spend a few hours! Taking in some local cuisine with the locals! Not chaotic, wider variety than the regular food markets of el salvador! A lively festive vibe!

The best day to go is Sunday!! They serve you A LOT of food for just $5-6. Natural juices, live entertainment and nice ambiance. You can take a 10 minute tuk tuk ride from the plaza to the waterfalls: Chorros de Calera

This was a highly recommended event while I was visiting Juayua as part of my second weekend getaway from San Salvador. The town food fest happens rain or shine every Saturday and Sunday. It is the perfect place to sample Salvadorean foods in variety and...More
