Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was nicely surprised and pleased by this market (the fish part of it especially). All sorts of fish and sea products. Went to the market every morning buying something new for the lunch or dinner. Tried all French fish, I think. And now know most of them by name. The highlight of our stay in Sete!

If you like European markets, this is a good one. Just about every fresh food you can imagine (and some you maybe can't imagine) are available here. It's noisy and crowded and sometimes smelly, but all of that is what makes these markets so much fun. Grab a table, order some wine, and have lunch with the locals. Enjoy the spectacle.

What an experience! Spent a couple of hours here going back and forth to various food stalls. My favourite were the grilled gambas and grilled Camembert from La Roti Sète. Yes it is busy but be patient and a table will become available.

The mood is great however the service in Diego Café, where we chose to have a drink was horrible. The waitress and the rest of the staff made fun of me and my family whilst we were ordering. They were laughing and giggling to our backs, looking at us, it was quite uncomfortable. They never said thank you nor tried to create a welcoming atmosphere. I recommend eat in the market but not to have your drinks at DIEGO CAFE. Not a good choice for sure.

The location is nice, as lots of covered market. There is not enough space for sitting and enjoying the meal, maybe because of vacation period. The food was quite good, with price in average, but much worse then other less touristic places around. I recommend for a visit, I suggest to eat elsewhere.

Various (from sushi, over pasta, to oysters) stands and stalls with food and drinks. In the middle of the halles you have chairs and tables, but when sitting down you are obliged to drink someting as the tables are run by a coffee bar in the halles.

Love the bustling atmosphere, the games the stall holders play with each other and the great food, whether you buy it to take, or eat there - such a wide range to choose from

We walked into les Halles de Sete relatively late (maybe 11.30) but knew immediately we had to eat some shellfish there. We secured a table and tried to figure out how things were working. The folks at the oyster stand spoke English and graciously helped us as we attempted to order up a tasting plate as we saw all the French families enjoying. We paid and awaited delivery of our food. The drink waitress appeared, and we ordered the same white wine we saw everyone else drinking.

Wow, this combination of fresh shellfish and that white wine was amazing. The food was great, and we enjoyed this truly French experience. We lingered so long that many of the other stands in the market hall had closed by the time we were done. We thought, though, that this fantastic snack was worth passing up the other stalls. We would get our olives and cheese elsewhere.

I would strongly encourage other non-French speakers to jump in and give this a try. The seafood/wine combination was great, and we truly enjoyed the experience of it all.

This was one of the fun stops on our food tour with AbsolutelySouthernFrance.com. My son and I had a blast. Got to try all kinds of interesting local foods and learn about the area and its development dating back to King Louis the XIV. This market had all kinds of local delicacies including the famous oysters known internationally, Internationally award winning olives, sweets, wines, etc.

We came here for a brunch/lunch and were lucky enough to get a table outside as soon as we showed up. They actually belong to a bar across the road but as long as you order drinks from them you can sit there and get as much food from the halls as you want!
We had some spritz and the cheapest wine and all was delicious.
Then you start the adventure of figuring out what to eat - all the groups around us had such amazing things and we couldn’t stop staring, but actually trying to find it inside was easier said than done. Definitely if you’re in the know you could create a fantastic feast but we weren’t quite but even just stocking up on bread cheese and meats will be fab!
Totally loved the atmosphere and wanted to return and try to find some deliciousness again!
