Bagh-e Babur (or Gardens of Babur) is a beautiful, historical park in Kabul. The site is located on the slopes of Kuh-e Sher Darwaza, southwest of the old city of Kabul. There is a small entrance fee to pay around 100 Afghani. It is more for tourists compared to locals, but a small price really to see this beautiful place.... More

A charming, peaceful park to stroll, picnic, people-watch, and smell the flowers. Great getaway from the traffic and streets of Kabul.

Bagh-e Babur, Babur's gardens, are a beautiful little sanctuary from Kabul city, secure enough for expats to wander around, and one of the rare places where you can see Afghan couples and families wandering around and picknicking, with women who've pulled off their burkas. The gardens are very nice to walk around, and the shops at the bottom have some... More

I went during the winter so nothing was blooming, and nobidy was there except for the workers. Tourists pay 10X more for the entrance but really it's still very cheap. I really admired the size and beauty of this place that was built in the 16th century. When you walk to the top, you will have a stunning 360 view... More

OK, I would have liked a more authentic restoration of the lower portion of the garden, but that's quibbling. The massive numbers of daily visitors - Afghan mothers with their children, and families, and students - testify to the enormous contribution this park makes to a dusty and beleaguered city. Since the renovation, the park sustains itself financially through its... More

Take a picnic, a rug and a good book, and forget where you are for an afternoon. Visit the tomb and let the guards tell you about it, in their unique style. If there's an exhibition at the palace, take a look inside at the architecture and beautifully restored building. Great views over the city (pick a clear day). Gives... More
