This is a small heavenly abode in the lap of mother nature. We were the few lucky ones who were able to see the monks performing their daily prayers. It is a soul stirring experience to see number of monks chanting hymns together, beating drums blowing trunpets... You aren't allowed to video that. We saw that around 5 in the... More

Located at ~25 kms from Gangtok in a very peaceful location, this beautiful monastery is one of the oldest in Sikkim. Please note that the car doesn’t go till the monastery gates and it’s a long steep walk from car park which can be tiring for elders but it’s worth the effort. The entrance fees is INR 10/- and one... More

I visited this monastery in the month of March 2016 along with my family. The peaceful surrounding helps you to find your inner self. Inside the monastery you'll find a huge courtyard. There is a restaurant inside the campus where you can relish local dish. This restaurant is visited by non other than Hollywood great Richard Gere, Aamir Khan and... More

The moment we entered the gates, we got reminded of the movie 7 Years in Tibet. It is that amazing. The silence inside really hits you. It was cold, and calm. I do remember some tourist coming in later and being really loud. If you are reading this, I would request you to please respect the place and not make... More

30 minutes from main market this monastery is situated. Enjoyed the monks reading and playing of their traditions music, the best time would be morning to see the monks activities.

Calm and quaint place. Just 25kms from Gangtok. Don't pay more than 1000 rupees to cab for a return trip.

Rather a long walk from the car park. Yes, there is an entrance fees of Rs 10. But that is not all. You have to show them you ID card as well. Well worth a visit as this is the oldest monastery in Sikkim. A must see.
