After having been recommended this place a no.of times to check out, we had to make it. Having missed the entry hours, we finally made it on our third attempt. So be mindful of the timings. Unfortunately rntry was restricted to members only, so try and find someone (even just outside) to get you in. The architecture of the place... More

We went to this beach on last day just to see what's there, it's a nice little beach with a jetty made of loose stones (same as on promenade beach) going some 50 meter in the ocean. It's not commercial as Paradise beach but I found waves to be more calm here. There is no life guard though. Worth a... More

This is certainly an impressive colonial building hosting the best and valuable treasures of Pondicherry history located on the Seaside Promenade. The Institute employees are kind and helpful and it shows they are proud of the place they work. Lovely courtyard, and they also list out the various cultural activities that is scheduled.

I've always been fond of the French Institute, though I liked it better when there was more emphasis on Sanskrit literature. Their library overlooking the sea is especially pleasant, and I've spent many an hour there doing research. The building is a beautiful, historic building in the traditional style.

You need prior permission to enter. The building is a delightful shade of European ochre. And the view of the sea from the terrace is stupendous.

This building with its imposing french architecture and design is worth a visit. A place of learning, it houses a library and archives for research and general information. It is supported by the French Government, so the facility will survive the times.

The Institute is set in a beautiful building around a courtyard, and is clearly influenced by French architectural styles. It has a lively programme of cultural events, and there is often an exhibition worth visiting.
