This Park Monument in Bharathi Park was built by the French ruler Napoleon III in memory of famous courtesan named Aayi. This is a simple structure near the entrance to the park, with carved granite pillars and carvings of various Gods etc. It is part of the park and can not be missed while having a stroll in this green and shady park which is surrounded by Historical Heritage buildings such as Raj Nivas, museum, oldest UCO bank. The park and the monument should be nicely maintained.

The park monument (Aayi Mandapam) is in the center of Bharati Park, which lies in the center of the historic French Quarter so you really can't miss it. It's an idyllic resting place with park benches and trees and a perfect people and bird-watching station.

Aayi monument is in middle of Government Park or Bharati Park in Puduchery. A nice monument made of white marble during the period of Napoleon-3, Emperor of france. It was dedicated to a curtesan lady named Aayi who destroyed her house to erect water reservoir to supply water for city. You can seat in monument on surrounding seat

We have visited the park a couple of times. It is nice and shady in the mid day sun.Plenty of places to sit around and rest. The monument itself can do with some maintenance and a fresh lick of paint.

The monument in the park, an Icon of Pondicherry. It is situated in the middle of a park. Although the monument itself is maintained, the park is not. What an ideal place it would be if the complete place was maintained nicely. Anyways a good place to visit for a nice picture.

The Oark Monument locally known as Aayi Mandapam is situated in the centre of beautifully designed Barathi Park in the white town area of the city. This monument buit during French regime is coloured in white and it gives a out of world impression when it sparkles in neon light during festival occassions. On the east side of the park is Gandhi Square and promenade. On the north we can see the Raj Nivas (the office and residence of Lt. Governor), Pondicherry Museum, Bharatidasan Govt. Public Library and Head Post Office. The Legislative Assembly Building, Circle de Pondicherry Club and Govt General Hospital are situated on west side of the park. The oldest bank in Pondicherry, UCO Bank, Chamber of Commerce, Police headquarters and Pondicherry Municipality Office known as Marie are on the south side of the park. Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Sri Manakula Vinayaga temple, Cathedral of St Mary, the commercial street known as Jawaharlal Nehru Street, Grand Bazaar Police Station, so many restaurants and hotels are only at walkable distance from the park.
The park is maintained well, but it could have been better preserved. This park also includes play area and traffic park for children and walk for those conscious about their health.

Dedicated to Ayi, who brought water to Pondicherry, this is a beautiful peaceful place to spend some time in the lap of mother nature. There are not many activities that can be done in the park, but one can definitely come here to relax.

In the middle of a pretty park this is a well known landmark in Pondicherry. You won't need to spend a lot of time admiring it, as it is pretty simple. But it is worth walking through the park to see people relaxing and enjoying spending time with friends and family.
