This lighthouse, right over the Japanese Friendship Bridge from Kampong Cham is an interesting legacy of colonial rule over Cambodia. Once you climb the stairs- more of a ladder- to the top, you are afforded an excellent view of Kampong Cham city across the Mekong and the surrounding Cambodian countryside. The whole trip including travel time should take no longer... More

A lovely piece of history in this peaceful and beautiful small city. Glad I wasn't a lighthouse keeper back then as the climb to the top was beyond daunting. Well worth a visit.

The tower on the east side of the Mekong is a nice place to watch the sunset. The stairs are a bit steep but look very stable. And best of all: it's free

The is a very beautiful old light house, looks great across the river at sunset and even better to check it out up close.

The tower just located at the other side of Mekong River. I tried to climb up the rail ladder but can't make it to the top, scared to look down. Nice view from the bridge side.

The old French Lighthouse is looming over the river, and shares it history from the days that the bridge was not there. For years it had been an abandoned shell in bricks with an architecture that reminds me more of a mosque then a lighthouse. The renovation is a very good investment and the steep green steel are a challenge.... More

The French lighthouse tower is nothing special in and of itself, other than for an understanding of its historic value. You can climb up into the tower on very steep ladders, each step of which has a very high "rise" - about 15 inches or so - and they seem almost straight up. I developed a sense of vertigo just... Went 26 April 2015. Lovely old tower overlooking the Mekong River. Good god though, the stairs are more like a metal ladder, I only managed the first set and that was good enough for me. Not for those afraid of heights but I should imagine the view to be even more spectacular if you can make it all the way... More

I visited the French Tower as part of a tour I took. The ladders are solid and the railings are easy to hold on to. It you are afraid of heights don't look down. The view is fantastic!

I have walked over the bridge to the tower about a dozen times but only managed to get the courage to climb the VERY steep staircase three times. Once at the top you do get some great views of the river and surrounding countryside. How they managed to erect the staircase inside the narrow tower is a mystery to me.... More
